The Sally Webster star shared a sweet post on social media

Coronation Street favourite Sally Dynevor shared a sweet post to celebrate an impressive 40 years on the ITV soap.

The 62-year-old actress, who plays Sally Webster, shared the career milestone on Monday and was met with a flood of support from both fans and co-stars.


Ms Dynevor arrived on the cobbles at just 22, and during her four-decade career on the soap, her character has become a firm favourite.

In that time, the actress has taken centre stage in many hard-hitting storylines, including a 2009 plot which saw her fighting cancer both on and off screen.

Sharing on Instagram a a 40th anniversary card created by co-star Tony Maudsley, who plays George Shuttleworth in the soap, she reflected on her four decades on Coronation Street.

The card depicts Sally's first scene on the soap, which saw her being splashed by Kevin Webster's (Michael Le Vell) car in January 1986.

The actress penned: "I can't believe it's 40 years in Corrie this month. What a ride it has been.

"Love what I do so much. Thank you @tonymaudsley1 for this, it's wonderful."

The achievement prompted many other soap stars to congratulate Ms Dynevor on the landmark anniversary.

Joe Duttine, who plays Ms Dynevor's on-screen husband Tim Metcalfe, wrote: "Oh wow, that's amazing... love you Sal xx."

Mr Maudsley replied: "You are very welcome Sal. Happy Corriversary, you massive legend."

Cassie Plummer actress Claire Sweeney posted: "Wow that’s amazing congratulations".

Simon Gregson, famed for portraying long-term character Steve McDonald, added: "Happy anniversary, lovely Sally."

Abi Webster star Sally Carman joked: "How is this possible? You're only 36."

Former co-star Ellie Leach wrote: "40 years of a true icon. Congratulations Sal."

Michelle Keegan, another former Coronation Street star, commented: "Amazing! Congratulations Sally."

Ms Dynevor has talked about her plans to remain on the world's longest-running soap, assuring fans she has no plans to exit her Sally Webster role.

"I want to keep working, it's good for my brain," she told Woman's Weekly magazine.

The actress continued: "So, if they still want me, maybe I'll be in the show in my 70s and 80s. I'll just keep going.

"It's such a great job and I feel very grateful I've still got it after 40 years."
