The Beckham family still appear to be estranged from oldest son Brooklyn

Romeo and Cruz Beckham have rallied behind their younger sister Harper following accusations that the family orchestrated her attempt to see eldest brother Brooklyn at his Los Angeles residence.

The two brothers took to social media with affectionate posts about the 14-year-old after representatives for Brooklyn, 27, and his wife Nicola Peltz claimed the visit was staged for cameras.

Romeo, 23, shared an Instagram selfie with Harper, describing her as his "favourite person ever."

The image showed the pair making playful expressions, with Romeo sporting a Brazil jacket from his fashion brand Intra.

The public display of sibling solidarity came after Harper was photographed appearing dejected outside Brooklyn's Beverly Hills property on Friday, reportedly carrying a handwritten letter for her estranged brother.

Harper had travelled to the £14 million property that Brooklyn shares with Nicola Peltz on Friday, June 12, only to depart moments after arriving.

The teenager was captured by photographers looking visibly upset as she approached the residence, reportedly hoping to deliver a personal letter to her older brother.

Spokespersons for Brooklyn and Nicola responded to the incident by suggesting the entire episode had been manufactured. "

The fact that photographers were in place as the letter was hand delivered says it all - this was choreographed for the cameras," their representatives told Page Six.

The accusation implied that David and Victoria Beckham had deliberately used their youngest child as part of a media strategy, with Brooklyn and Nicola's camp claiming Harper was being deployed as a pawn in the ongoing family dispute.

Friends close to David and Victoria have hit back forcefully at the allegations, dismissing them as a cruel attack on a child who simply wants to reconnect with her sibling.

"It is incredibly sad that this horrible accusation is being levelled at an innocent young girl who just desperately misses her brother," sources allied with the couple said.

"Nothing needed to be said at all so to invent this nasty accusation is really unnecessary."

It has since been confirmed that Brooklyn was not even in California when Harper made her visit.

The 27-year-old posted an Instagram story showing himself jogging through New York City, placing him thousands of miles from his Beverly Hills home.

Harper had been in Los Angeles with her family to witness David receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When journalists questioned the former England captain about the impact of months of feud headlines, he declined to engage.

"To be honest, I'm sorry to stop you there, but that's a private matter. That's the one thing that I don't want to talk about," he said.

Victoria has previously acknowledged the difficulties of raising children in the public eye.

"Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it's very different from having little children," she told the Wall Street Journal, adding: "I think that we're trying to do the best we can."
