Nish Kumar has been called out by a GB News presenter after urging the public to take action in support of Palestine Action hunger strikers.
The British comedian, 40, shared a clip from his podcast Pod Save the UK on Monday, calling on viewers to write to their MPs over the treatment of eight Palestine Action activists currently on hunger strike in prison.
In the clip, Mr Kumar said doctors had warned the strikers’ health was at serious risk and criticised Foreign Secretary David Lammy for what he described as a lack of urgency.
"They're being told by doctors that the health of these people is at stake. David Lammy dragging his feet on this issue is not something we should be taking lying down," he said.

| GETTY"MPs are adding their voices to calls for action over eight Palestine Action activists who are currently on hunger strike in prison. It is thought to be the largest protest of its kind in the UK since 1981."
The clip then cut to a female activist, who said: "For two of the strikers, today is day 45 without eating. Five have been hospitalised.
"Last week, three of the hunger strikers had their bail request denied as a trial date was set for January 2027."
Mr Kumar added: "A doctor supporting the activists said last week this is a trajectory that ends with death."

Josh Howie called out the comedian on X
| GB NEWSThe podcast clip concluded with information about a link encouraging viewers to write to their MPs and urge them to sign an Early Day Motion.
Reaction online was mixed, with some backing Mr Kumar’s call to action and others strongly criticising it.
"Thank you for sharing. Found the link in your story, and I’ve written to my MP. I’ve shared the reel on my story with instructions to maybe do the same...
"Horrific times we are living in," one supporter wrote.

Critics were less sympathetic, with one commenting: "What do you want David Lammy to do? He can’t grant criminal bail. The prisoners are validly detained on account of a judge who knows the law better than you."
The clip quickly went viral and attracted the attention of political commentators, including GB News presenter Josh Howie.
Sharing the video on X, Mr Howie was clearly on the side against the Mock the Week star: "To be fair to Nish, trying to defend a bunch of violent Nazi terrorists who won’t go yum-yum is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen him do."
Fans of The People's Channel presenter were quick to weigh in, with one writing: "Worth trying it on with a Labour government that rewarded Hamas with recognition of Palestine."

Another added: "We didn’t give in to the IRA and we shouldn’t give in now. It was the same sort of thing. Thatcher was right not to give in."
However, one disgruntled viewer commented: "Why can't it be Nish who is on hunger strike?"
This isn't the first time Mr Kumar has caused controversy with his outspoken political views.
In 2019, the comedian was booed off stage at a Lord’s Taverners charity event after performing material critical of Brexit and Boris Johnson, with one audience member reportedly throwing a bread roll.

He initially refused to leave the stage, joking that he was "full Bercow-ing it", before eventually being escorted off.
In July 2022, Mr Kumar issued a formal apology to Conservative MP Brendan Clarke-Smith for sharing a photograph that led to false allegations.
The comedian has consistently voiced support for Palestinian causes and has repeatedly spoken out against attempts to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation.
In July 2025, he criticised the UK government’s move to ban the group as a terrorist organisation, describing a "vacuum of leadership" and warning of the legal consequences of criminalising membership.
Last year, Mr Kumar withdrew from a scheduled appearance at the Hay Festival in protest over its sponsors' links to Israel and fossil fuels.
In September 2025, he also co-hosted a live episode of Pod Save the UK titled "Stop the Genocide" at King’s Place in London, alongside Amnesty International UK and Al Jazeera Gaza bureau chief Wael Al-Dahdouh.
