Marc Anthony has broken his silence on the escalating Beckham family dispute, labelling the public fallout as "extremely unfortunate", while suggesting the narrative being presented does not reflect reality.
His remarks come three weeks after Brooklyn Beckham's explosive social media statement distancing himself from his parents.
Mr Anthony's connection to the Beckhams spans decades, predating the birth of their children. He serves as godfather to Cruz, the couple's 20-year-old son, while David reciprocates as godfather to Mr Anthony's son, Marquitos.
The singer was also present at significant family moments, with the Beckhams attending his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2023.

Brooklyn and Nicola have distanced themselves from the Beckhams in recent years | GETTYBrooklyn had directly named Mr Anthony in his January statement, claiming the singer called him to the stage during what was supposed to be his romantic first dance with wife Nicola Peltz.
The 57-year-old singer addressed the controversy in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Monday.
"I have nothing to say about what's happening with the family," Mr Anthony stated. "They're a wonderful, wonderful family."
However, the Latin music star made clear his view that the situation has been misrepresented publicly.

He added: "It's extremely unfortunate how it's playing out, but it is hardly the truth."
Despite this closeness, Mr Anthony refused to address the specific allegations Brooklyn made about the 2022 wedding reception, where the musician performed.
"I'm really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there," he told the publication.
According to Brooklyn's account, his mother commandeered what had been scheduled as an intimate moment with his bride at their April 2022 nuptials.

Brooklyn Beckham made claims about his mother, Victoria | PAThe 26-year-old alleged that Mr Anthony summoned him onto the stage, where Victoria was waiting, rather than Nicola.
Brooklyn wrote: "In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead."
He claimed Victoria then "danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone."
"I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life," he added.
Sources previously told People that Mr Anthony had announced "the most beautiful woman in the room tonight" before calling Victoria to join them, leaving guests stunned while Nicola reportedly left in tears.
DJ Fat Tony, who performed at the wedding, has corroborated elements of Brooklyn's version of events.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning last month, he recalled Mr Anthony instructing Brooklyn to "put your hands on your mother's hips" during what became an awkward three-minute dance to a love song.

"Brooklyn's literally devastated, because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife," the DJ said
Brooklyn's grievances extended beyond the wedding incident.
In his January statement, he accused his parents of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding."
He also alleged they had "repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name."
The Beckham family before the feud | PAWhile David and Victoria have not directly responded to Brooklyn’s statement, allegedly after he asked his parents to communicate only through lawyers, David appeared to allude to the situation in a televised interview just days later.
The former footballer remarked that his children had “made mistakes” on social media. He stated: "I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media... For the good and for the bad.
“What kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons."
Nicola's billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, has previously defended the newlyweds, saying: "My daughter is great, my son-in-law, Brooklyn, is great and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together."
