The Loose Women panellist has had three complaints upheld against her

Kaye Adams has been removed from her £155,000-a-year BBC Radio Scotland programme following an internal investigation that upheld three misconduct complaints against the broadcaster.

The 63-year-old Loose Women panellist faced disciplinary proceedings after allegations emerged that she had directed an offensive expletive at a colleague, hurled a pen towards a producer, and criticised a trainee's professional capabilities.

Two separate bullying allegations were not substantiated during the inquiry.

Adams, who presented the morning phone-in show for 15 years, has consistently rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing.

She maintains that her forthright manner in the workplace was misinterpreted as intimidating behaviour.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed the presenter would not be returning to her broadcasting duties at the Scottish station.

One incident, which reportedly occurred more than 10 years ago, involved Adams allegedly using the c-word against a member of staff, resulting in that person refusing to work on the programme that day.

A colleague was required to step in at short notice, just minutes before the broadcast was scheduled to begin.

In a separate episode, the presenter is said to have thrown a pen at a producer after becoming frustrated with an aspect of the day's show.

Former colleagues described feeling humiliated and distressed by her conduct, with one source telling the Daily Mail: "Senior producers acknowledged how difficult she was but did very little to protect the staff team from the excesses of her behaviour. Tears were common and stress levels through the roof, for everyone."

Adams has maintained her innocence throughout the process, suggesting that her "assertiveness" in the workplace had been misconstrued as bullying behaviour.

"I am not the person that I was painted as," she previously stated.

Speaking on her podcast following her suspension in October, the presenter said she had been "blindsided" by the allegations.

"I can't even describe it, it just feels like layers of my skin have been torn off, to be honest," she explained. "I certainly never saw this one coming."

Staff working on Mornings with Kaye Adams were informed a week ago not to expect her return to the station.

The BBC confirmed that Connie McLaughlin will continue presenting the programme from Monday to Wednesday, with Stephen Jardine taking over Thursday and Friday broadcasts.

The investigation was reportedly triggered after Victoria Easton-Riley, the new head of audio and events at Radio Scotland, observed Adams' conduct during a team meeting at the broadcaster's Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow.

"After witnessing Kaye's behaviour first hand, Victoria started talking to other members of staff who worked on her programme," an insider told The Times. "The floodgates then broke and she was suspended. This was never about one single incident. The investigation looked at her behaviour over many years."

However, Jeff Zycinski, former head of BBC Radio Scotland, defended the presenter, telling The Times: "I never once saw Kaye lose her temper."

ITV has confirmed Adams will continue in her role on Loose Women, while broadcaster Grant Stott has reportedly been lined up as her replacement at BBC Scotland.
