He confirmed the news alongside a photo of himself with a member of the BBC's crew as he typed: "So good to be back filming for @bbcmorninglive.
Jonnie Irwin has been filming new scenes for BBC's Morning Live
"We’ve just shot to short films about renovating your home and what to look out for.
"I think my smug smile betrays the lack of a massive commute for once and the extra couple of hours I got in my scratcher as we filmed in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
"I’ll let you know when they are due to go out, when I know myself. #onset #onlocation #bbcmorninglive #property #propertyrenovation #toon #newcastle," he signed off.
Inevitably, it didn't take long for Irwin's fans to rush to the comments section and they all had one thing to say - just how well Irwin looked.
"Back on tv where you belong and looking totally amazing," one fan praised while a second added: "You are looking so well - much better than you have been for quite some time. Keep fighting the good fight."
"You are looking so well in this image Jonnie. Hope you are doing as well as you look," another echoed while a fourth weighed in: "Right back where you belong! Doing your fabulous presenting!"
And a fifth added to the compliments: "Wonderful to see you back, your looking really well, what ever your doing it’s working." (sic)
Irwin's time filming in his Newcastle home did take a bit of a turn later in the day when he revealed there was a mishap at the airport.
Jonnie shared a snap from an airport following filming
Irwin heaped praise on airline British Airways for their treatment of him and fellow customers on-board a flight after it had to be grounded due to a handful of passengers missing the plane.
Remaining positive, Irwin penned: "I’m smiling as I’ve just had a very positive experience. Flying out of Newcastle airport is usually a breeze as it was today.
"I took a connecting flight with @british_airways and someone didn’t get to the plane on time. We then had to wait for the baggage crew to find the 4 bags (someone’s got a very painful day ahead!).
"What struck me was how calm all the passengers remained- many like me getting connecting flights.
"But then we we treated like customers not cattle, kept fully aware and all the passengers responded in kind. #respect #travel," he added, once again prompting floods of compliments for his upbeat attitude.
