Fans of ITV’s For the Love of Dogs have demanded a major shake-up in presenters following the latest update on the show.
On Tuesday, the official For the Love of Dogs Instagram account, along with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, posted that Alison Hammond’s second series had come to an end.
A caption read: "That's a wrap. Thank you to everyone who joined us and our girl @alisonhammond55 on our #ForTheLoveOfDogs journey this series! We’ve loved bringing you brand new stories of the fantastic rescues in our care, and highlighting all the amazing work of our staff and volunteers, who put so much into finding each of our animals their perfect match."
The This Morning presenter has been met with constant criticism since taking over hosting duties on the programme where she attempts to help unwanted dogs find their forever home.

Hammond took over hosting duties from the late Paul O'Grady, who passed away aged 67 in March 2023, with many viewers specifically having an issue with the fact that she doesn't own a dog herself and is reportedly afraid of dogs.
Her fear of dogs has been documented in her 2021 autobiography, You've Got To Laugh where Hammond described witnessing a traumatic incident where a young boy was attacked by a dog.
Fans have persistently called for her to be replaced on the beloved show about Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
One fan wrote on X: “I’m sorry itv for the love of dogs is turning into the Alison Hammond show and not about the dogs maybe you should have had Pete wicks as Paul’s successor you can clearly see it’s just a job to her and she just reads a script unlike Paul who was a true animal lover."MORE LIKE THIS:

ITVAnother complained: “Used to love watching #POGdogs but not anymore! Hammond has no connection whatsoever with dogs, for the life of me I’ll never understand why she got the gig over actual dog lovers such as Pete Wicks or Ricky Gervais.”
A third chimed in with: “I like Alison but she doesn’t even own a dog”.
A recurring sentiment among fans was their call for Pete Wicks to replace Hammond.
The TOWIE star currently appears in For Dogs’ Sake, a show that sees him immersing himself in the world of dog care at Basildon’s Dogs Trust rehoming centre.
Many commenters pointed out that Wicks’ compassion for the dogs reminded them of the warmth and empathy shown by the late presenter Grady.

One person said: “I think Pete Wicks should host For the Love of Dogs and definitely not continue with Alison Hammond. She has no natural empathy with the dogs and just looks fake. Pete Wicks would be a credible replacement for the very much missed Paul O’Grady.”
Another added: “I think Pete Wicks should carry on Paul O’Grady’s Legacy and be on For the Love of Dogs. His love, passion, dedication and continuous advocating for our voiceless animals / dogs would shine through. He is the dog lover that we need.”
However, alongside calls to replace her, Hammond also received compliments from delighted viewers who thoroughly enjoyed the series.
