Coronation Street star Tanisha Gorey shared an emotional post on social media over the weekend, which was met with an abundance of excited comments from both co-stars and fans.
The actress, who has starred as Asha Alahan in the ITV soap since 2009, revealed that she is set to marry her long-term partner, Lucas Whelan, after he proposed during a romantic getaway.
The 24-year-old shared the joyful news with followers on Instagram last Saturday, posting a collection of photographs from the special occasion.
Among the images was a pink and white heart-shaped cake bearing the words "just engaged" surrounded by polaroid snapshots of the happy couple.
The actress also displayed her sparkling diamond ring whilst posing beside her new fiancé in front of a Christmas tree.
Their hotel room had been decorated with red and silver balloons, including one arrangement spelling out "I love you."
Ms Gorey captioned her post simply: "Brb still crying." (sic)
The couple had been together for six years before Mr Whelan got down on one knee, having celebrated their relationship milestone in May 2025.

|Ms Gorey and Mr Whelan have largely kept their romance away from the public eye throughout their time together.
The soap star first confirmed she was in a relationship with Mr Whelan when she turned 18, marking the occasion by sharing photos with him publicly for the first time.
Three years later, in 2022, the pair announced another significant step in their relationship when they purchased their first property together.
Fans and followers flooded them with supportive messages at the time, celebrating the couple's move into their new home.

Tony Maudsley offered his congratulations with a humorous twist, writing: "Babes I'm really made up for you....BUT I don't think I got a bit of cake???"

Ms Gorey joined the long-running ITV drama back in December 2009, taking on the role of Dev and Sunita Alahan's daughter when she was just a child.
Over the years, she has grown up on screen alongside Adam Hussain, who plays her on-screen twin brother Aadi.
