The princess had been in the role barely one year

Princess Eugenie has quietly left her role at the King's Foundation after just one year.

The soon-to-be mother of three had taken on the position supporting emerging talent, though according to Hello, she only made one outing in the role's capacity.

The Daily Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle revealed that the 36-year-old has been "quietly dropped" from the role, which "barely lasted a year".

Mr Hardcastle said the scandal surrounding her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, cast a "deep shadow" over her involvement.

The princess had played a major role in the King's "35 under 35" initiative, a mentoring program supporting young leaders.

The daughter of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, who is a director at Hauser & Wirth art gallery in Mayfair, was expected to use her experience in the arts world to inspire and guide these talented individuals.

Her only outing came in November last year, when Eugenie gave an introductory address at a network mentors brunch in Soho.

"It was fantastic to spend more time with the 35 under 35, who are such an incredible group of talented young people," she remarked at the time.

"My career has been shaped by a passion for the arts, so it’s a pleasure to be working with The King’s Foundation to support this inspirational group of artists and creatives."

In March, it emerged that Eugenie had also stepped away from Anti-Slavery International, following her father's arrest in February.

The charity subsequently removed the princess's profile from its website, which had previously highlighted her efforts working "across the board with leaders in the fight against modern slavery".

Despite these setbacks, Eugenie is understood to remain on good terms with her uncle, King Charles, who established the Foundation in 1990.

The monarch expressed his delight at her official pregnancy announcement from Buckingham Palace earlier this month, as she awaits her third child.

She and her husband Jack Brooksbank divide their time between Portugal and their Ivy Cottage residence at Kensington Palace.

The couple have been spotted in London frequently of late, including an evening at Oswald's in Mayfair, as they prepare to welcome their new arrival.

The couple will now also be getting ready for this weekend, when they celebrate the third birthday of their youngest son, Ernest.

The youngster is set to become a big brother over the summer, when Eugenie and Jack grow their family from four to five.
