GB News star Nigel is still in the running to be crowned King of the Jungle

Nigel Farage's mum Barbara has shared her thoughts on her son's antics in the jungle after he joined the I'm A Celebrity line-up last month.

Farage's time Down Under has had no shortage of talking points when he makes it to screens, most notably from his interactions with the now-eliminated Nella Rose.

After the pair struck up a friendship in the early days of the series, tensions soon arose when Rose quizzed Farage on his stance on immigration.

The pair had a tense debate about the topic and Rose sparked a racism row among ITV viewers when she asked the GB News star "why black people don't like" him.

The pair ultimately "agreed to disagree" on the subject but their differing viewpoints came to the forefront once more when a debate about cultural appropriation broke out in camp.

Rose slammed Farage for being, what she perceived to be, "dismissive" about the topic while the GB News star tried to make amends and ask his campmate why she was upset with him.

Despite the clashes, Rose told Ant and Dec during her I'm A Celeb exit that she thought Farage was an "amazing person" although did explain: "Until he speaks about what he really believes in, and I just think, ‘You’re a cool guy but why do you think like that?’ It’s a sticky one."

While Farage stood his ground in the camp when facing off against Rose - an attitude he had to possess when Fred Siriex also collared him about Brexit - his mum Barbara has also defended her son.

"She wants publicity for herself," Farage's mother said of Rose. "She wants publicity for her chat show."

When asked if she felt Rose was "baiting" her son by the Daily Mail, she continued: "I think she has been put in there to do it.

"I loved the way Nigel said to her, 'I believe I have upset you, can we talk it through?' which I thought was nice. He apologised, although she was way out of line.

"She got on to immigration with Nigel and I think she was gunning for that, just to upset him. She was pressing his buttons to see his reaction."

While Rose touched upon her relationship with Farage briefly during her chat with Ant and Dec, she left fans who wanted to hear more the following morning disappointed.

Rose had been billed to appear in an interview with ITV's Lorraine but "decided not to give any interviews" the day after her camp exit, the presenter revealed on her self-titled talk show.

Her decision to snub interviews was defended by ITV who told GB News: "We have a duty of care process in place for all our celebrities and there are no expectations from our side for any of the celebrities to do press interviews immediately after they depart the show."

Rose is now acclimatising to the real world following her jungle exit while Farage is still in with a chance of bagging the jungle crown.
