The Beckham family has faced accusations of hypocrisy from fans following their attendance at Adam Peaty's wedding to Holly Ramsay at Bath Abbey after Christmas.

David and Victoria arrived at the ceremony alongside their children Cruz, Romeo and Harper, drawing significant attention from onlookers.

The Olympic swimmer's nuptials took place under difficult circumstances, with his parents Caroline and Mark having their invitations withdrawn following a family dispute.

Critics were quick to highlight what they perceived as double standards, given the Beckhams' own well-documented estrangement from eldest son Brooklyn.

Photographs published by Vogue magazine showed the famous family positioned prominently among guests, prompting observers to question how they could participate so visibly in a wedding marred by family exclusion whilst experiencing similar difficulties themselves.

Social media users did not hold back in their criticism of the Beckhams' visible role in the celebrations. "It looks lovely but all very odd when Brooklyn has done to the Beckhams what Adam had just done to his family. And they stand there smiling! Odd odd odd!" one fan wrote.

Another commenter suggested the couple must be "sickened by the behaviour of their 'besties' given that Brooklyn is doing exactly this to them."

The positioning of David and Victoria in the wedding photographs drew particular mockery, with one observer remarking: "The Beckham's standing next to Peaty like they're his folks. What a circus."

However, some defended the family's presence, noting the longstanding friendship between the Beckhams and Ramsays, who have holidayed together and raised their children alongside one another for years.

The parallels between the two family situations were not lost on observers. Brooklyn Beckham notably did not attend Holly's wedding, instead remaining in Los Angeles with wife Nicola and her billionaire family over the festive period.

The Beckhams experienced their own painful exclusion last year when Brooklyn renewed his vows with Nicola without extending an invitation to any of his relatives.

Reports suggest the couple discovered the ceremony had taken place through social media rather than being informed directly.

Both Nicola and Holly chose to honour their maternal sides on their wedding days, with each bride wearing their mother's gown.

Nicola's father Nelson officiated her ceremony, whilst Gordon Ramsay took charge of the wedding catering and funded the honeymoon.

Gordon Ramsay's father-of-the-bride speech also sparked controversy, with the celebrity chef making pointed remarks about Adam's absent parents.

After praising his daughter's appearance and telling the groom he was "a lucky man," Ramsay referenced his wife Tana before adding: "Shame you don't have the same."

Holly described the moment in her Vogue feature, writing: "Listening to dad's speech, looking around the room and feeling overwhelmed with the love and the happiness on our guests' faces."

A family source told the Daily Mail that Caroline found it "outrageous and very hurtful" that Gordon raised their family troubles publicly.

Adam's mother shared her anguish on Instagram, posting: "I won't end this year pretending everything was fine.

I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back and I'm not forcing a smile like it didn't change me."
