GB News star Camilla Tominey has delivered a sharp rebuke to former Labour strategist Alastair Campbell after he criticised commentators reacting to Donald Trump’s attack on Sir Keir Starmer.
The exchange erupted on social media after Mr Campbell took aim at those welcoming the US President’s criticism of the Prime Minister amid the escalating row over the Iran conflict.
Posting on X, Mr Campbell wrote: “I see the plastic patriots out celebrating an American president being verballed by a Sun hack into criticising a British Prime Minister … and they do love to ask ‘whose side are you on?’”
His post included a screenshot of an old front page from The Sun newspaper with the headline: “The Sun backs Blair – give change a chance.”

| GB NEWSMr Campbell appeared to be referencing the influence of the newspaper in British politics, particularly during the 1997 general election, when it publicly supported former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair.
However, Camilla swiftly hit back.
“I can’t remember much objection when a ‘Sun hack’ took this side …” she wrote.
Her post also included the same historic Sun front page backing Mr Blair, widely interpreted as a jab at Mr Campbell’s past relationship with the newspaper during Labour’s rise to power in the late 1990s.

Another added: “How did that war work out again?”
A third wrote: “Alistair Campbell lied himself into a black hole and there is no escape…”

“To be fair to you when Johnson was Prime Minister you had his back if anyone from outside of Britain criticised his leadership,” the user wrote.
“You were very vocal in protecting him and wouldn’t have a bad word said against him.”
Others raised wider political questions about Britain’s role in the latest Middle East conflict.

Another wrote: “It isn't unpatriotic to criticise the most unpopular Prime Minister of all time.”
The social media clash comes amid rising tensions between the UK and the US after President Trump lashed out at Sir Keir over Britain’s response to the US military operation against Iran.
Speaking at the White House, Mr Trump criticised the Prime Minister’s hesitation over allowing American forces to use UK military bases during the strikes.
Delivering a blunt verdict on the Labour leader’s leadership, the US President declared: “This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with.”
