The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham says he has “no interest” in reconciliation, accusing his parents of manipulation and betrayal

Brooklyn Beckham has ended years of silence on his fractured relationship with his famous parents by publishing an explosive six-page statement on Instagram this evening.

The 26-year-old, the eldest child of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, declared unequivocally that he has no interest in mending ties with his family.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled — I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn wrote.

The aspiring chef alleged that throughout his upbringing, his parents manipulated media coverage surrounding the family through what he described as “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships”.

He claimed he felt forced to speak out after his parents and their representatives continued briefing journalists, leaving him “no choice” but to publicly address what he described as “lies that have been printed”.

Brooklyn accused his parents of waging a sustained campaign to undermine his marriage to Nicola Peltz, 31, which he claimed began before the couple married in April 2022.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” he wrote.

Among his most damaging allegations was the claim that Victoria withdrew from designing Nicola's wedding dress at the eleventh hour.

“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new one,” Brooklyn alleged.

He further claimed that in the weeks leading up to the ceremony, both David and Victoria repeatedly attempted to pressure and bribe, him into signing away the rights to his own name.

According to Brooklyn, his parents were insistent the agreement be signed before the wedding, as the terms would then be activated.

He claimed his refusal permanently altered their behaviour towards him.

The statement also contained striking claims about Victoria's conduct during wedding preparations.

“During the planning, my mum went so far as to call me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I chose to seat my Nanny Sandra and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, as they did not have their husbands,” he wrote.

Perhaps most humiliating, Brooklyn alleged his mother commandeered what was meant to be his romantic first dance with his new wife.

He claimed singer Marc Anthony summoned him to the stage where Victoria was waiting instead of Nicola, before dancing “very inappropriately” with him in front of 500 guests.

Brooklyn also alleged that on the eve of his wedding, relatives told him that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family”.

He claimed that since asserting independence, he has faced sustained attacks from his parents through private channels and media briefings carried out on their behalf.

“Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere last summer,” he wrote.

The rift extended to Brooklyn senior’s 50th birthday celebrations, which Brooklyn and Nicola attended in London but were allegedly kept waiting at their hotel for a week while trying to arrange private time with him.

When a meeting was finally agreed, Brooklyn alleged it came with one condition: Nicola was not welcome.

“It was a slap in the face,” he wrote.

Brooklyn attributed his estrangement to the psychological toll of his upbringing.

“I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared,” he said.

He described waking each day with “peace and relief”, adding: “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”

Brooklyn concluded by outlining his hopes for the future.

“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
