A biopic from Paramount Pictures based on the band is on the way

The first few names tipped to land the roles of Maurice, Robin and Barry Gibb in an upcoming biopic about the Bee Gees have been exclusively revealed to GB News.

This month, the biopic has began to gather pace with Ridley Scott - best known for Gladiator and Alien - reportedly boarding the project as director.

The Bee Gees film is currently untitled and no cast members have been announced but there are a few details about who'll bring the film to life.

Scott will reportedly helm the film while surviving band member Barry Gibb will serve as executive producer.

Paramount Pictures - the same studio that recently released the Bob Marley biopic One Love this year - will distribute the film while writer John Logan has penned the script.

But who will play Barry and his brothers? There's one man who's emerged heads and shoulders above the rest at the front of the pack.

Owen Teague is the actor who is most likely to land a role as one of the Gibb brothers, according to data supplied to GB News by Instant Casino*.

The actor is currently the frontrunner at 4/1 to bag a leading part in the biopic after appearing in the 2017 remake of horror movie It, Netflix drama Bloodline, and the Paramount+ original series The Stand.

However, with three major roles to fill, Teague isn't alone in the running.

Austin Butler bagged an Oscar nomination for the leading role of Elvis Presley in a biopic about the King of Rock 'N Roll and it looks like he too could be in contention to play one of the Gibbs.

GETTY

Butler is 6/1 to star as one of either Robin, Barry or Maurice, closely followed by next James Bond candidate Harris Dickinson at 8/1.

Butler has become a household name since Elvis and currently stars in Apple TV+'s big-budget WWII series Masters of the Air.

Behind those three in the running are Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Martell and Blake Jenner.

Wolfhard also starred in It but is best known for his role in Stranger Things - he's currently priced at 9/1.

Those same odds have been placed on Martell, another It star who's arguably best known for his role in the Daniel Craig-led murder mystery thriller Knives Out.

Jenner is slightly further adrift with odds of 10/1 after finding stardom in the musical teen drama series, Glee.

Underdogs beyond the front six include Harry Styles (12/1), Bradley Cooper (14/1), Joe Keery (14/1), Andrew Garfield (16/1) and Eddie Redmayne (16/1).

Who exactly each actor could play remains a mystery for now with Barry the only surviving brother able to lend his advice.

Maurice died in January 2003 while Robin passed away in May 2012 - they were aged 53 and 62, respectively.
