She was once involved in a 'love triangle' with Winehouse and Fielder-Civil

A woman who dated the ex-husband of Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her Yorkshire home as police launch an investigation into the “unexplained” death.

Sarah Aspin, 47, began dating the singer‘s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, in 2011 after the collapse of their two-year marriage, with the singer found dead from alcohol poisoning in July 2011.

Sarah's body was discovered at a property in the Swillington area of Leeds, West Yorkshire on Saturday morning, with police now investigating and saying it remains “unexplained”.

The couple met in rehab and went on to have two children together, and it is understood Fielder-Civil separated from Sarah in 2018.

Sarah’s daughter, Melody-Rose Hampshire, wrote online: “No words at all. Love you so mum. May you rest in eternal peace my beautiful mum.

“Doesn’t seem real. Just want you here and speak to you about your crazy antics. Life going to be so boring without you in it.”

Sarah’s cousin Leanne Eastwood has also paid tribute, having wrote: "Sweet dreams to my beautiful cousin Sarah Aspin. Hope you finally found peace. Till we meet again, gutted, feeling sad."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are continuing enquiries following the death of a woman at a property in the Swillington area of Leeds.

“Officers were called to an address in Primrose Hill Drive at 6.38am following a concern for safety report.

“A woman was treated by paramedics at the scene but died a short time later. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.”

A man found at the property was taken into custody for an offence not related to her death, with police and forensic specialists remaining at the property until Sunday evening.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service Trust have been contacted for comment.

Sarah spoke emotionally in the wake of Amy’s death as her partner at the time, Fielder-Civil, languished inside Armley Prison for a burglary and a firearm offence.

Winehouse and Fielder-Civil's relationship spanned four years, having met in 2005, where just a month later she had tattooed his name on her chest.

They split when he could not bring himself to end the relationship he was already in, but got back together and eventually married in Miami in 2007.

Their relationship was plagued by problems with alcohol and drugs, and Winehouse wrote her hit singles You Know I'm No Good and Back To Black about their turbulent relationship.

Sarah was in a reported love triangle with the pair, who are said to have still loved one another despite their failed marriage.

At the time of Winehouse’s death, Sarah said: “He {Blake} just can’t take it in that she’s dead and he’ll never see her again.

“I just couldn’t console him. He was in total shock. Blake is the father of our son. But I saw him and Amy together and I know they were really in love and they were soulmates.

"She always loved him and he always loved her, but it was just never going to work. Basically they couldn’t live with each other and they could not live without each other. It is hard for me knowing he still loved her, but I do understand his feelings."
