The Our Yorkshire Farm star surprised fans with a candid livestock update

Fans of Amanda Owen have rallied around the Our Yorkshire Farm star after she posted a series of photographs revealing a new issue affecting her livestock at Ravenseat.

The farm, a remote 2,000-acre sheep operation in the Yorkshire Dales, is run primarily by Ms Owen and her nine children following her separation from husband Clive Owen in 2022.

The presenter's latest post included a slideshow of fourteen images and short videos showing daily life on the farm, mixing wholesome moments with her children alongside updates about one of the family's prize cows, Ciara.

The post read: “What a lousy day it has been!

“Definitely weatherwise but also in itchy scratchy ways.

“Afflicted with an itch she couldn’t scratch was Ciara, our lovely cow that we hand reared (her mother Margaret was not very maternal or very milky as she was quite the veteran)."

Ms Owen continued: "Anyway, as we were having a communal itch this morning I couldn’t help thinking about what an absolutely smashing cow she is.

“She is not so fond of other cows, rather be seen than amongst the herd.

“Despite her formidable size, she is the most docile sweet natured ungulate you could ever clap (poop emoji) eyes on.

“Having grown out of her obsession with eating clothes she now is just content to mingle with people whenever possible.”

Fans quickly flooded the Yorkshire shepherdess' comments section with support.

“This made me laugh. Can’t wait to see you all bk on TV x. Was my favourite programme to watch x,” (sic) one viewer wrote. Another added: “Thanks for sharing. Made me smile.”

Others praised Ms Owen’s parenting and the idyllic lifestyle she provides her children.

“What a lovely childhood they have,” one fan commented, while another echoed: “What an amazing life the children have.”

Long-time followers also reminisced over Ciara's early years.

“Awww how lovely to go back and see them all little again,” one wrote. Another penned: “Happy memories of her as a calf. She’s made a Bonny Cow hasn’t she. Love the photos of the girls bottle feeding Ciara.”

This was not the first time Ms Owen opened up about life on the farm. She frequently shares candid farm updates with her supporters.

Last week, fans were stunned after the author posted photographs of her 13-year-old son Sydney, with many noting how dramatically he has grown since the family’s early TV days.

Alongside wholesome posts, the 51-year-old has also opened up about the more painful aspects of farm and family life.

In October, she announced the death of the family's beloved dog Chalky, writing simply: “Mourning #Chalky.”

In the same month, the Mum of nine also shared images of her children working alongside her on the farm, explaining there had been challenges: "Life is busy," she wrote.

“Obstacles thrown into your path, the road is never smooth.

“We just tackle everything head-on (or a*** first in the case of sheep at the moment).Always do our best and turn our hand to anything. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

“Nowadays we have to be stronger than ever and mental strength (mindset) is the biggest driver of confidence and resilience.”

Ms Owen often acknowledges the chaos of family life and the “moments of absolute crappiness” that come with it.

She and Mr Owen have long said they worked hard to instil resilience and a strong work ethic in their children.

Both Ms Owen and her former partner have previously spoken about the pressures fame placed on their marriage.

Mr Owen admitted his anger and desire to “keep Amanda to himself” eventually “drove her away”.

Despite their split, the couple will continue to work together on their new programme, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

They remain separated but not legally divorced and co-parent their nine children while sharing responsibility for the farm.

Clive said their lives are so “intertwined” a full separation would be impossible, with their ongoing collaboration forming the basis of the new series.
