Britons hoping to see the approach of Spring weather may be left disappointed as parts of the UK are set to receive a lashing of hail and hill snow this evening.

The inclement weekend weather comes as temperatures plunge are set to -3C in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

While most across the country have enjoyed some Easter sun, the picture is expected to change as the evening draws in on Saturday.

Sunny spells with occasional showers are to be expected for most of the country, with the occasional rumble of thunder being heard across England and Wales.

More wintry conditions are set to blow in across the North and Scotland, with hail and hill snow on the way.

Those out enjoying the weekend have been advised to pack an extra layer, as a biting cold wind is expected.

On Sunday, showers will ease with clear spells across much of England and Wales.

However, as temperatures drop on the last day of the week, frost will develop across the country.

With increased rainfall, the Met Office has also issued flood warnings for West Dorset and Salisbury Plain.

The Groundwater level at Clarendon was recorded at 70.20 metres.

Property flooding is possible when the water level exceeds 70 metres.

High groundwater levels are also expected to raise the River Bourne's level, increasing the risk of fluvial flooding.
