Britons will be swapping coats for T-shirts again by the weekend as the topsy-turvy weather ushers a burst of warmth.
Although the steamy high-20C peaks of last week will remain a memory, the UK is about to lose its northerly chill.
Temperatures through the coming days, particularly across southern Britain, could nudge the low-20Cs.
Jim Dale, meteorologist for British Weather Services, said: “It is turning warmer again by the weekend, and although we are not talking about the temperatures, we saw last week, we could see 20C, 21C in parts of southern Britain.
Temperatures will shoot up again this weekend

“We will lose the very cold mornings and the risk of frost that we are seeing at the moment.
“And while we are not talking about exceptional heat, it is going to turn nicely warm again with a very pleasant spell of spring weather.”
Britain’s up-and-down weather is being steered by a huge region of high pressure sitting over the country.
However, the northerly position of the high absent of southerly winds means high temperatures are short-lived.
After temperatures nudged 30C at the end of last week, parts of Scotland and the north have been waking to frosty mornings.
Although temperatures over the coming days will rise, the lack of a Continental ‘plume’ will keep on the backburner the chance of a mega-hot blast.

High pressure brings warmer temperatures

Dale said: “This is home-grown high pressure and is sitting over the UK at the moment, but it could shift to the north.
“This is different from the highs which bring in a southerly airflow resulting in those very high temperatures.
“And this is the pattern we expect to see through the rest of the month and the end of spring.”
Britain will start to warm from today, with temperatures in parts of the country nudging the mid-teens.
In keeping with the theme of the year so far, clear, cloudless skies promise a dearth of rainfall.
The temperature will turn warmer as the week progresses

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “As we go through Wednesday, the chance of getting over 15C begins to increase across the south, so there is a suggestion that temperatures will probably on the rise.
“Temperatures are likely to tick up as we go through the week, and that is because high pressure sits around, and we get day-on-day heating.
“We could see some showers across the north, particularly if a low gets closer for Thursday, but generally speaking after the dip in temperatures we will start to see temperatures rise a little bit.”
Jason Nicholls, lead international forecaster for AccuWeather, added: “It is going to turn warmer later in the week as high pressure remains in charge.
“With the warmer temperatures, it is going to stay dry and bright for many, although there will be the risk of an isolated shower by the weekend.”
