The restaurant reopened this month

Food lovers searching for an unforgettable dining experience in the British countryside are in luck.

The Pass, tucked away inside South Lodge hotel in Sussex, has just thrown open its doors again following a complete transformation. It is one of the most intimate fine dining spots in the country, seating just 28 guests at a time.

The restaurant held onto its Michelin star in the latest guide announcements, so you know the quality is there.

For those planning a Sussex getaway, this reopening couldn't come at a better time. The venue offers something truly special for British holidaymakers who love exceptional food.

What makes this spot so special is the chance to watch award-winning Head Chef Ben Wilkinson and his team work their magic. Expansive glass windows now give diners a behind-the-scenes peek into the kitchen action.

The designers have gone for soft, earthy colours throughout, creating a space that feels genuinely relaxing. Artist Lizzie Bentley has added hand-painted murals that celebrate nature and the restaurant's commitment to local, homegrown produce.

Olive green velvet banquettes and high-top chairs make the whole place feel wonderfully comfortable. There is also a brand-new reception area where guests can settle in before their gastronomic adventure begins.

THE PASS

Wilkinson said: "It's an exciting new chapter for us, to have a space that reflects our evolving vision and gives us even more opportunity to craft memorable, immersive dining experiences," he said. "We can't wait to welcome guests in and share what we've been working on."

Guests can tuck into a seven-course tasting menu that helped the restaurant keep its coveted star, along with its four AA rosettes.

South Lodge offers plenty more for hungry visitors too. The hotel features Camellia, an elegant fine-dining restaurant with three AA Rosettes, plus Botanica, a zero-waste, dairy-free option with impressive sustainability credentials.
