Queen Camilla allegedly told a friend, "Meghan brainwashed Harry", as the Duke of Sussex's stepmother hit out at his wife.
The claim, made by writer Tom Bower in his new book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, comes during a turbulent time for the royals, amid Harry's uncle being arrested last month.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially split from the royal family on February 19, 2021, having moved to the United States in January 2020.
What followed was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey on March 7, 2021, where the couple discussed their reasons for stepping back as senior royals.

Upon claims of racism in the royal fold, questions were raised to Prince William, who responded to journalists' questions saying: "We are very much not a racist family".
The Sussexes have not made a joint trip back to the UK since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022.
Harry has been back and forth to the UK since the couple's separation, most recently on January 18, 2026, for his legal trial against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL).
Despite being in Britain, the Duke of Sussex did not meet his father, King Charles, or his brother, who were both outside of London at the time.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The Sussexes have still been engaging in international tours following their split, conducting a visit to Colombia in August 2024 and a trip to Jordan last month.
In collaboration with the World Health Organisation, Meghan and Harry held a two-day initiative centred on humanitarian health efforts, mental health, and support for vulnerable people impacted by conflict and displacement.
The couple announced they will be returning to Australia next month, in their first trip down under since visiting as working members of the Royal Family.
The Royals have not commented on the Sussexes' journeys abroad, with the British Government seeking to distance itself last month from Harry and Meghan's venture.

| PAThe Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not commented on the ongoing situation surrounding Harry's uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested and released under investigation on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Harry was understood to be shocked by William's approach to their uncle, reportedly wanting him to be banished from the royal fold "before the rot set in".
In September 2025, Andrew attempted to make conversation with William outside Westminster Cathedral after attending the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
The former duke broke into laughter while standing next to William, who looked visibly uncomfortable and embarrassed.

| PAAndrew has vigorously denied any wrongdoing, but has not responded to the latest allegations.
For the Sussexes now, Meghan is fully focused on her As Ever brand, having taken full control of the company after cutting ties with Netflix.
It is understood the duchess aims to take her brand global, with products currently only available in the US.
Meanwhile, Harry will be looking at the end of his legal case against ANL, which is due to conclude this month.
