History lovers can explore Bratislava Castle, which towers above the city and offers sweeping views across three different countries.

The Old Town is a delight to wander through, with its cobbled streets lined with colourful baroque buildings and charming bronze statues dotted about.

Foodies can tuck into traditional Slovak fare like bryndzové halušky – delicious potato dumplings topped with sheep cheese – at prices you won't find in bigger European capitals, according to TUI.

For a truly unique dining experience, the Slovak Pub spans 11 rooms across two floors, each dedicated to a different era of Slovakian history, serving hearty soup-filled bread bowls for just £6.50.

Those looking for adventure can hop on a speedboat tour along the Danube, taking in both the historic and modern parts of the city from £45 per person through TUI Musement.

Walking tours are also available from £22 per person, where visitors can discover why Bratislava earned its nickname "Beauty on the Danube" while learning about the Hungarian empire, Slovak communism and the Velvet Revolution.

Don't miss the famous UFO observation deck – a flying saucer-shaped structure sitting 95 metres above the SNP Bridge.

The stunning Blue Church is another must-see, featuring gorgeous pastel blue tiles, intricate mosaics and whimsical spires in Hungarian Secessionist style.
