However, the recent heatwave that saw temperatures soar to 33.2°C on June 21 has sparked a dramatic shift in holiday preferences. In light of this, experts have found the top trending UK spot to visit this year.

Scotland was named as the most sought-after UK destination, with 138,000 searches for "Scotland holidays" in the past month and a 37 per cent increase over the quarter. East Sussex had the most dramatic surge at 96 per cent, whilst Cornwall attracted 145,000 searches with a 27 per cent quarterly rise.

East Sussex
The five-mile stretch of sandy beach provides an escape from busy city life, which can become overwhelming during heatwaves. Its proximity to London makes it particularly attractive for quick getaways.
The holiday pros added: "Just one hour away from the centre of London, Camber Sands is the only sandy beach in East Sussex."
Cornwall
Kynance Cove exemplifies this comparison with its striking turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs, offering a stunning UK alternative to overseas beach destinations. The experts said: ""With its crystal-clear waters and golden sands, Cornwall's coastline is often likened to the Caribbean."
