Road closures are set to create chaos for those on their way to Leeds Bradford Airport this weekend, Jet2 has warned.
Thousands of runners will take to the streets of Leeds on Sunday, May 11, for the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, raising funds for motor neurone disease charities.
The airline has warned that closures will be in place between 4am and 6pm, and that passengers should "allow plenty of time" to get to the airport ahead of take-off.
Check-in will close 40 minutes before scheduled departure times, with all flights operating as planned despite the disruption.
A full list of road closures can be found on the official RunForAll website
RUN FOR ALL
A full list of affected roads can be found on the Run for All website, which provides a detailed diversion map for those needing to navigate around the closures.
Leeds Council has laid out the temporary road closures that will be put in place, with deputy council leader Jonathan Pryor adding that the council plans to "do everything we can to minimise the impact of these measures".
The event on Sunday, May 11, will honour the former Leeds Rhinos player who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019. It will be the first marathon to be held since his death last June.
In 2024, Leeds Bradford Airport saw a 5.8 per cent rise in the number of passengers travelling through the hub, with over 4.24 million people taking to the skies across almost 32,000 flights across 12 months.
The number of customers last year marked a 6.2 per cent jump from 2023, with the airport accommodating an array of the UK's top budget airlines, including Ryanair and easyJet.
Alicante was Jet2 passengers' top destination two years running, with the Costa Blanca resort seeing a notable surge in popularity in 2024.
Indeed, last year, the number of Jet2 flyers heading to the Spanish destination jumped by more than 50,000 compared to 2023.
Dublin and Palma De Mallorca came runners-up, taking the second and third spots for the most popular Jet2 holiday hotspots.

The travel disruption across Leeds will come just two days after a significant disturbance erupted on Friday following a nationwide aviation strike across Italy.
These workers handle baggage and provide ground services for airlines, including easyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz Air.
However, Wizz Air and easyJet previously told GB News that they would not be affected by the strikes.
