The Lake District, Edinburgh and London are perfect UK breaks in the coming months

As longer, brighter days approach, planning for a UK spring break is a great way to celebrate.

A travel expert shared the best parts of the UK to visit in April, May and June if searching for holiday inspiration.

Travel expert at tour operator, Rabbie’s, Hazel Rickett, recommended visiting popular parts of Scotland and England when the days start to get warmer.

Here, they can soak in history in cities like London and Edinburgh, or explore the countryside in the Lake District.

April - London

Holidaymakers will not get bored in London - whether they want to learn about British history, catch a world-famous West End show, or visit one of its iconic parks. April comes with pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for wandering between sights or meandering through its famous parks.

Rickett said: “While it’s a popular destination for both staycations and international tourists throughout the year, April is a wonderful time to visit London.

"The city is incredibly walkable, so the increased daylight and improved weather make it much easier to explore its iconic landmarks, neighbourhoods and green spaces at a relaxed pace.

"From riverside walks to world-class attractions, London truly comes into its own during the spring months, and it’s much more affordable than summer, when it comes to hotels and attractions."

May - Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a vibrant and historical city that becomes very popular in August for the Fringe Festival and in December to see the Christmas Markets.

But moving a visit earlier in the year is a great way to take advantage of the longer, warmer days without battling through the crowds.

Rickett added: “May is an excellent time to consider a venture to Scotland’s iconic capital city, Edinburgh. With longer days and milder temperatures throughout the spring season, it’s a great time of the year for sightseeing and outdoor exploration.

"There are plenty of green spaces that come to life throughout the city at this time of year, and May is ideal for experiencing Edinburgh without the usual summer crowds.

"In Edinburgh, I particularly recommend a visit to the breathtaking Edinburgh Castle, dating back thousands of years. For a lesser-known experience, I’d also recommend exploring Dunbar’s Close Garden, a peaceful, hidden gem just off the Royal Mile that offers a glimpse into Edinburgh’s historic gardens, away from the crowds."

June - Lake District

The Lake District is often named one of the most beautiful places in the UK, with quaint market towns and stunning walking routes. While the weather is famously temperamental, June to August typically have the highest chance of warmth and sunshine.

Rickett said: “As we enter summer, scenic destinations like the Lake District make for incredibly memorable trips. June is an ideal time to explore its rolling hills, shimmering lakes and picturesque villages before the height of the summer crowds arrive.

"Lakeside strolls and visits to nearby charming market towns, such as Keswick, offer a brilliant way to make the most of the longer days and experience one of the most picturesque areas of the UK."
