New routes will launch going from Scotland and London to Spanish and French holiday hotspots

Budget airline Vueling has expanded its service with more flights going from Edinburgh to Spain.

Starting this month, flights will run twice a week, giving holidaymakers more options when booking their 2024 getaway.

Veuling, which is owned by British Airways' parent company IAG, will run the flights from Edinburgh Airport to Barcelona.

Edinburgh Airport stated: "With new Vueling flights, it just got even easier to fly to one of Europe's most stunning cities. Sunshine. Seafood. Shopping. Sport.

"Situated on the Mediterranean, Barcelona is a fun and culturally rich city. Whether you fancy a city break or the opportunity to relax on a beautiful beach, it's a fantastic place to visit.

"Art and architecture fans won't want to miss the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya which houses a remarkable collection of Catalan art, the Unesco-listed masterpiece La Pedrera, and, of course, the iconic La Sagrada Familia.

"While there's so much to see and do, you'll need to make time to try some of the city's culinary delights. Needless to say, you'll do well to better the city's food and drink scene.

"The seafood is sublime, the paella unrivalled and some of the tapas restaurants are unmissable. And when in town be sure to take a trip down La Rambla. The street has everything from outdoor markets, monuments and street performers to shops, restaurants and museums."

This comes as Vueling announced more flights in 2024 going from London Heathrow Airport to Barcelona El Prat and Paris Orly. It will run two flights per day every day, going from London Heathrow to Barcelona El Prat.

This will bring the total number of daily flights going from London airport to Barcelona to 10 per day.

Those looking for a trip to Paris can take advantage of the new Vueling route going from London Heathrow to Paris Orly, which will run once a day, every day. The flights will start this week on April 7.

Chief commercial customer, network and strategy officer at Vueling Carolyn Prowse commented on the exciting new flight routes.

She said: “We are delighted to relaunch operations from London Heathrow, the UK’s largest airport. These two new routes are in addition to our existing operation from London Gatwick and position Vueling as one of the key airlines connecting these major hubs across Europe.

"Barcelona is our largest hub and we will now offer up to 10 daily flights from London overall.

"Paris Orly is our second largest operating base and is currently not served from Heathrow at all. This relaunch has been possible thanks to our strong collaboration with British Airways."
