United Airlines has announced an expansion of its forthcoming nonstop route connecting Glasgow with New York/Newark.
The service, launching on May 9, will now continue through to October 24, 2026, extending operations by a full month beyond the original schedule, while also adding capacity.
This represents the American carrier's comeback to Glasgow following a seven-year absence, having last operated the route in October 2019.
United will be the sole US airline providing direct flights between Scotland's largest city and America when it launches.

More flights will go to New York
| GETTYThe enhanced service forms part of United's broader summer 2026 programme, which sees the carrier operating to 44 Atlantic destinations with approximately 800 weekly transatlantic round-trip flights.
The Glasgow-Newark route will use the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, operating daily departures throughout the extended season.
Flights from Glasgow will depart at 2pm, arriving in Newark at 4.35pm local time, while return services leave Newark at 10.15pm, touching down in Scotland at 10.10am, the following morning.
There is plenty of choice of seats for holidaymakers - the aircraft configuration offers 166 seats across three cabin classes: 16 in United Premium Plus, 54 in Economy Plus, and 96 in standard economy.

Premium Plus passengers get extra legroom, additional recline, an amenity kit, and Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, while Economy Plus provides extra space near the cabin front for quicker disembarkation.

Airline Director at AGS Airports, Chris Tibbett, added: "We were absolutely thrilled when United Airlines announced its return to Glasgow Airport for Summer 2026 and the increased frequency before the service even starts highlights the strong appetite for connectivity between the two countries.
