Family holidays are a great way to create lifelong memories, and they don't need to cost a fortune.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, an expert shared five recommendations for a cheap but fun UK break at holiday parks that are close to some beautiful beaches.

John Ellis, founder and owner at Internet Affiliation Ltd - a business specialising in holiday accommodation - suggested holiday parks for a family-friendly holiday on a budget.

He told GB News: "As someone who has had young children, I know that getting a good value holiday is important when choosing to stay in the UK. When looking for your family holiday, you’ll need somewhere where the children will be happy.

A holiday park in East Sussex was recommended

"After all, if they’re not happy, you’re not happy. For a good value, child-friendly holiday, it’s well worth looking at a caravan holiday park. Fortunately, there is a good selection of holiday parks dotted around the UK’s coast.

"Many of these parks have swimming pools, playgrounds and entertainment all included in the price of your holiday. As most of the parks are on the coast, you can enjoy days on the beach too; a cheap day out."

Holiday parks usually consist of caravans, static caravans or other holiday homes. These are often self-catering facilities with separate bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens.

John said: "A week in August will set you back £500. The more amenities the park offers, the more expensive the holiday will be. Remember, though, that £500 is for the whole family, not per person.

"This means, for a family of four, a holiday could cost £125 per person." There are plenty of holiday parks across the UK, and the travel expert rounded up five of his favourites for an affordable family holiday.

Camber Sands Holiday Park in East Sussex

John said: "Camber Sands is a large family holiday park on the south coast, with plenty of activities available. This includes four swimming pools, an outdoor wet play area, an adventure playground, and a sports court. A week in August is around £700 for four people."

Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park in South Wales

The expert commented: "Carmarthen Bay is next to a lovely beach for a superb day out, with the park having an indoor swimming pool with a water slide. There is a kids' club, adventure playground and mini golf too. A week in August is around £600 for six people."

Kessingland Beach Holiday Park in East Anglia

The pro added: "Kessingland Beach is on the Suffolk coast, set alongside a pebble beach. You have an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, with children’s entertainment and an adventure playground also available. A week in August at Kessingland Beach is around £600 for four people."

Glendale Holiday Park in Cumbria

The expert added: "Glendale Holiday is one of the quieter holiday parks, and makes a lovely destination if you prefer some peace and exploring the surrounding area. Overlooking the Solway Firth, and within reach of the Lake District National Park. A week in August can be as low as £500 for four people."

Trelawne Manor in South Cornwall

The travel expert said this is an affordable choice for a holiday to Cornwall. He said: "South Cornwall is a popular destination for a UK holiday, and has a reputation for being expensive. However, Trelawne Manor, near Looe, makes a nice destination for a good-value family holiday.

"It has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, an entertainment venue, a children’s club, tennis courts, and a fishing lake. You can book a family holiday at Trelawne Manor from £500 for four people."
