For many British and Irish holidaymakers, nothing beats finding a proper pub when travelling abroad. As well as grabbing a good pint, it comes with a familiar warmth and atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
Around 41 per cent of British tourists actively look for pubs during their holidays, while the Irish take it even further, with 55 per cent making pub visits part of their travel plans.
Whether it's watching the match with fellow fans or tucking into a Sunday roast, travellers clearly love bringing a taste of home culture along on their adventures.
So where exactly should pub-loving tourists head for the best experience? The Travel RePUBlic Index has the answers, and New York City is the ultimate destination for finding that authentic British and Irish pub atmosphere abroad.

The study looked at several factors to create these rankings, including how many pubs each destination has, whether they show live sports, what traditional food they serve, and, crucially, how much you'll pay for a pint.
Other destinations making the top 10 include Albufeira in Portugal with 29 bars and Alicante in Spain with 25.
The city that never sleeps certainly delivers when it comes to pub experiences. An incredible 96 per cent of NYC's British and Irish bars stream live sports, perfect for catching matches from back home.
The top five venues serve 19 classic British dishes between them, from proper fry-ups to fish and chips. But, drinks aren't cheap - expect to pay £9.14 for imported beer and £7.15 for domestic.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Spain's popular resort town Benidorm claims second place with 32 pubs - 25 of which show live sports to keep football fans happy.
The experts added: "Benidorm has long been a favourite holiday destination for British tourists due to its sandy beaches and lively atmosphere."
But the real draw? Those wallet-friendly prices, with both imported and domestic beers averaging just £2.49 a bottle. Food-wise, the top five pubs serve 14 British classics, with full English breakfasts proving most popular.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles surprises with more British food options than NYC - 20 dishes across its top-rated bars, with every single one serving traditional British pies.
