While European holidays are undoubtedly popular with British tourists, it is Mexico and Morocco that have seen a surge in demand this summer.
Puerto Morelos and Marrakech have become standout destinations as holidaymakers look to get more for their money.
Marrakech is this summer's top city break, according to loveholidays Recharge report. Bookings to Mexico's Puerto Morelos have also soared, up 100 per cent year-on-year.
Chief marketing officer at loveholidays, Al Murray, said: “It's no surprise we're seeing UK holidaymakers branching out to neighbouring spots around popular resorts, as hidden gems like Puerto Morelos offer a quieter, more affordable escape without losing that close connection to neighbouring attractions.
"At the same time, we’re seeing travellers look for cultural experiences and better value, which is why Marrakech is growing in popularity.”
So what can holidaymakers expect when visiting these destinations?

There are many ways to stay entertained, such as diving and snorkelling in the Mesoamerican Reef, or visiting a cenote.
Take a journey along the famous Cenotes Route, which extends from the town into the Yucatan Peninsula, where holidaymakers will find jungles and freshwater swimming holes.
