British expats can benefit from 'convenient and accessible immigration routes'

Greece may not be the first place that comes to mind for those looking to start a new life abroad, but a travel expert has shared why it is worth considering.

Not only does it boast beautiful coasts and pleasant temperatures, but it also has great incentives and a low cost of living.

Travel expert and founder of Mitos Relocation, Federica Grazi, spoke to GB News about why Greece is one of the ideal places for Britons planning to relocate.

The London-based specialist said: "I work in many countries, but one particular destination that I'd like to highlight for Britons moving abroad is Greece. Besides its sunny climate and stunning beaches, a few factors make it so interesting."

Moving there is fairly easy for Britons, with "convenient and accessible immigration routes".

Grazi added: "This includes a Digital Nomad Visa (for those on remote work), a Financially Independent Person Visa (for those with passive income, including retirees), and a Golden Visa (notably one of the few places left with a real estate investment route)."

New residents will also benefit from "excellent tax incentives". The expert explained: "This includes a 50 per cent income tax discount for new workers, a seven per cent flat tax for 15 years for retirees, and a €100,000 (around £87,000) lump sum tax for those on higher incomes."

Cost of living is still very low - "20 per cent lower than in the UK according to Numbeo". Rent is as much as "60 per cent" lower, the expert added.

Grazi said: "For those interested in buying property, real estate prices have been on a very positive trend over the past five years, but they remain at very competitive and accessible levels. Cost per square meter is expected to go back to pre-GCF levels this year.

"Overall, the country is living a very positive recovery, with sustained economic growth, fiscal consolidation, increasing investment and competitiveness - positive for both those moving for work and those retiring abroad."

Moving to Greece could make financial sense, but what about settling in? Grazi said there is no need to worry about that, thanks to friendly locals and the fact that English is widely spoken.

She stated: "Greeks speak very good English, ranking 8th globally as a non-native country in the EF EPI Index. The population is very warm and welcoming, and there are already pockets of British expats in the country."

Looking for more options for your next move? Expats have been told of three more places to consider moving for the "ideal combination of culture, climate and financial benefits".

Malta, Australia and Ireland all have something to offer, and could be a top pick depending on the type of experience you are hoping to have.
