An expat living in Cyprus shared his favourite parts of his move

Relocating to another country is a tough decision and there is a lot to take into consideration before committing.

One way to gather tips and advice is by looking to others who have made a similar move.

One man who moved from England to Cyprus shared there were certain things he was looking forward to about life abroad.

He shared what his experience has been like and how his reality matched up to his expectations.

In particular, he was looking forward to better weather and a slower pace of life. "The first reason [I wanted to move] was the weather," the expat explained on YouTube channel Nutters In Cyprus.

He said the weather can be unpredictable in the UK and you can "go through four seasons in one day", which makes it difficult to plan things.

"In the UK, you go out of your house in July and it's pure sunshine. You phone your friends and say 'let's have a barbeque'.

"This is at 1pm, but by 3pm it's bouncing down [with rain] and it's all called off. You can't plan anything."

On the other hand, in Cyprus, the expat explained you could plan something weeks in advance and know you will have the weather you want.

"The weather is consistent and you can do other things, we spend so much more time outside," he said in the video.

"The weather has lived up to what we expected. Has it been a little bit too hot? Yeah, at times, but that's what the shade is for."

Another thing he was looking forward to was "the relaxed lifestyle". He confirmed: "That has definitely been the case."

Thinking of moving to France? Expats shared a warning about the "tricky" aspect of life in the European hotspot.

They said that renting and buying property can be more complicated than in other countries, which means French people will typically move homes less frequently.
