As warm weather continues in the UK, consider visiting one of the top places for a cheap treat

A small Cumbrian coastal village has been crowned Britain's cheapest destination for seaside ice cream, according to new analysis.

Bardsea claimed the crown with a flawless score, outperforming traditional holiday hotspots across the country.


Money specialists at Moneyboat looked at TripAdvisor data, focusing on customer ratings and value scores to pinpoint where Britons can savour quality ice cream without breaking the bank. Bardsea came out on top, costing an average of £2 for a single scoop.

Dawlish in Devon was in second position, costing about 50p more per ice cream, whilst North Yorkshire's Scarborough rounded out the top three for affordability.

Roy's Ices was recommended for Barsdean, according to the research, earning 4.9 ratings for both overall quality and value on TripAdvisor.

The Devon runner-up boasts a number of highly-rated spots to pick up a frozen treat, including The Local Scoop and Salty Dog Kiosk, which scored 4.9 and 4.7 for value, respectively.

Meanwhile, Scarborough's third-place finish was bolstered by Crema E Cioccolato, an Italian-style parlour that garnered a 5.0 overall rating and 4.9 for value.

"This small Cumbrian town outperformed popular spots like Dawlish and Scarborough, proving you don't need a big-name resort to enjoy top-quality ice cream at a great price," the analysis noted.

Devon and North Yorkshire each had two spots in the top 10, so it is definitely worth considering these regions for your next trip.

Sidmouth's seventh-place ranking was driven by Taste of Sidmouth, which achieved 4.6 overall and 4.7 for value. In North Yorkshire, Saltburn-by-the-Sea tied for fifth place, with Chocolinis earning 4.7 overall and 4.6 for value ratings.

The experts added: "With two coastal gems in the top tier, North Yorkshire proves you can enjoy top-notch seaside scoops without stretching your budget."
