The cheapest places to move to in France have been shared

There are lots of reasons expats may choose to move to France, including beautiful scenery and great food.

Some parts of the country are cheaper to live in than others.


Those looking to enjoy city life are in luck, according to French Connections.

It listed the French city Montpellier as the most affordable place to live in the European country.

"For those who love to live in a lively city, Montpellier is a popular and surprisingly affordable city located in the South of France," stated the list.

Montpellier is the third largest city in France and has easy access to the Mediterranean coast.

It has the chic Antigone district that includes shops, brasseries and bars.

It has sunny summers with temperatures hitting around 29° in July.

Grenoble came in second of the most affordable places to live in France.

The list said: "Are you after rugged mountains and atmospheric scenery rather than a big city?

"If so, then Grenoble may be perfect for you. This city is affordable, which is surprising due to its location."

Spain is another European country that Britons also move to and it has a huge expat community.

The cheapest areas in Spain have been shared and number one is a "vibrant" city with a "picturesque beach".
