A small village in the north of England has been voted the top UK destination to visit this year

If looking for a UK getaway, a study has detailed the 10 best locations to visit with a northern spot topping the list.

This was closely followed by scenic locations in Scotland.


Bamburgh took the top spot of the UK's trending destinations according to Airbnb.

It is home to the historical Bamburgh Castle. Its description reads: "Discover over 3,000 years of incredible history, high adventure, exhilarating views and sea air."

The historical UK spots Pitlochry and Fort Augustus were close behind on the list for those looking for a winter getaway.

Beaches are popular with those seeking a getaway, with Brighton and Norfolk also making the top 10.

This comes as a "beautiful and lovely" area in the UK was voted the best to visit.

The Cotswolds, Cornwall and Yorkshire Dales were voted the top three locations.
