The best cities have been named no matter what type of holiday you want

London is a brilliant choice for a staycation, boasting history, great food and the UK's most photoworthy landmarks.

However, if looking for something a bit different, experts shared the best UK cities to visit outside of the capital city, with a Scottish spot coming in top.

Gathering data from sources including TripAdvisor and Reddit, our guide showcases top destinations, from the Roman ruins of Bath to the natural beauty of Giant's Causeway.

“The UK is thick with history, from Georgian architecture to Roman archaeological sites, cities like Bath and Edinburgh are hotspots for history enthusiasts.

"Not only that, cities including Belfast are home to iconic film sites for shows including Game of Thrones. Many more have an abundance of family attractions, must-see spots for music lovers and cultural delights; it is safe to say you can make memories right on your doorstep.”

Hoppa experts said: "The Scottish historic city offers a captivating mix of ancient and modern attractions.
