The south west of England dominated the new list

For many travellers, a holiday isn't complete until they have sampled all of the local cuisine, and the UK has plenty of foodie destinations worth adding to your list.

For the best food the country has to offer, consider Cornwall. Three towns in the county made the list.

Access to good food options is a deciding factor for 34 per cent of Britons booking a holiday, according to the Sykes Staycation Index 2025, and it is a rising trend this year.

Sykes Holiday Cottages experts said: "We’re a nation of food lovers and we’ve uncovered that our palates are increasingly driving our travel decisions. A third of Brits say they’ve holidayed in a particular location to either try a local delicacy or visit a certain restaurant.

"We’ve analysed the numbers of restaurants in the UK through the Office of National Statistics, TripAdvisor data around the quality and concentration of eateries, as well as our own consumer research. Using this information, we’ve pulled together a list of the best foodie towns in the UK."

Destinations in Cornwall took the top three places, with three Dorset locations also named. This suggests some of the best food can be found in the south west of England.

Cornwall is famous for Cornish cream tea, fresh seafood, indulgent homemade ice cream and, of course, the Cornish pasty.

"What’s Cornwall’s secret?," experts at Visit Cornwall asked. "First, it produces among the richest variety of top-quality fresh produce from land and sea available anywhere in the country.

"Second, there’s an eclectic mix of heritage and contemporary flair that allows iconic Cornish pasties and clotted cream to sit happily alongside some of the best modern British cuisine and new products such as world-class cheeses, wines and spirits."

From cosy meals in country pubs to beachside dining and renowned restaurants, there is plenty of choice in the county, no matter what you are looking for. If visiting Cornwall, there is more to see than just the food - don't miss the beautiful beaches.

Experts found Cornwall has seaside spots with some of the whitest, soften sands, with Kynance Cove named as a "breathtaking spot that gives even Australia’s iconic coastline a run for its money".

They added: "This Cornish cove boasts powder-soft sands made primarily of quartz, giving the beach its bright, white appearance."
