Beautiful beaches, breathtaking countryside and great restaurants are often deciding factors when choosing where to go on a UK break.
But a rising trend this year has been "culturalcations", which sees Britons look to explore the history and heritage in the UK.

The experts said: "It turns out that us Britons want to learn more about the history of UK, as more than a quarter (26 per cent) have booked a UK trip specifically to visit a historic site or cultural attraction.

The experts added: "Sat atop of Castle Rock, overlooking the skyline of the historic city of Edinburgh is Edinburgh Castle, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an iconic Scottish attraction, the site of which dates back to at least the Iron Age.
"This dramatic 11th-century building is known for its eerie stories, as well as being the home of the Crown Jewels and the National War Museum of Scotland."

Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland is also a must-visit
| PABritish holidaymakers are keen to learn about the history of all parts of the country, with locations across England, in Northern Ireland and in Wales all also making the top 10 list.
And holidaymakers have much more to discover than just the historical landmarks when visiting these areas, as the landmarks are located in some of the UK's most beautiful areas.
Another factor inspiring holiday choices is pop culture - particularly where it has been featured on Britons' favourite TV shows and films.
Bath was the most sought-after location for this, because of Bridgerton, followed by Cornwall (for Beyond Paradise), the Lake District (features in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy), and the Scottish Highlands (from the Traitors).
