The ultimate staycation spot offers high temperatures, good accommodation and plenty of places to eat and drink

UK holidays are becoming increasingly popular, with 52 per cent of Britons choosing one over travelling abroad this year.

And some British destinations really do have it all. New research has named the best "all-rounder" UK city for your next getaway.


The data was collated by UK Holiday Park Provider, Away Resorts, who crowned "the top UK getaway destinations no matter what you enjoy".

Coventry ranked highest, having "something for everyone". This took the number of restaurants, attractions and pet-friendly accommodations into consideration.

  3. Lytham St Annes, Lancashire: 67%
  4. Hunstanton, Norfolk. 62%
  5. Llangollen, North Wales: 59%
  6. Bamburgh, Northumberland: 51%
  7. Bassenthwaite, Cumbria: 44%
  8. Ingoldmells, Lincolnshire: 43%
  9. Seaview, Isle of Wight: 37%
  10. Newby Bridge, Cumbria: 35%

Coventry had the highest temperatures, averaging 20 degrees in August, the most breakfast spots (188) and the most holiday rentals (250), according to Tripadvisor.

Holidaymakers can discover history and heritage, a variety of restaurants and plenty of accommodation options, ranging from city centre boutiques to countryside escapes.

The city was followed closely on the list by Dundee in Scotland, which received the highest score overall when it comes to "things to do", with 282 attractions.

Insights manager at Away Resorts, Dan Doherty, commented: “Our research has also revealed some more surprising results, shining a light on less well-known UK staycation destinations that are growing in popularity.

“Whether you want a getaway for you and your furry friend, a jam-packed holiday with the little ones, or to enjoy some British sun on the beach, our all-rounder staycation index has shown the top destinations to offer you your ultimate all-rounder UK getaway for summer 2025.”
