Google is testing a new feature in YouTube Music that Apple Music and Spotify can't match.
An all-new "Daily Discover" option is appearing in the YouTube Music app for some subscribers, recommending a new track every 24 hours based on your listening preferences — so you've always got a new song to enjoy.
While both Spotify and Apple Music regularly offer subscribers recommendations based on listening history, these take the form of complete playlists, never individual songs. Each of these AI-powered playlists are refreshed weekly.
If you're unfamiliar with YouTube Music, it's a music streaming service developed by Google that lets users listen to songs, albums, playlists, remixes and music videos from YouTube’s vast catalogue. It offers both ad-free and offline listening across the web, iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, and smart speakers like Amazon Echo.
Unlike Spotify, YouTube Music is designed to integrate traditional music streaming with the video platform's unique content, including live performances, covers, and fan-made tracks. Prices start from £10.99 for an individual plan, although Google is currently offering a one-month free trial for new subscribers.

The new Daily Discover feature was spotted by a user on Reddit, who shared the new arrival in a screenshot. It appears above the "Trending songs for you" section on YouTube Music's homepage using the Android app.
The recommendations are shown in carousel format, meaning you can swipe left or right to explore them. In addition to you seeing individual songs suggested, the platform also gives you a small explainer on how each one made it to the recommended list.
For example, if you're a fan of a particular band and listen to them regularly, then their newest single may make it on the list since you've expressed repeated interest.
While you can listen to each of the songs individually, you can also select the "Play All" button, which will let you combine all the recommended songs into its own playlist, bringing together the tracks that YouTube Music think you'll like from the last few days.

This isn't the first time the daily discover feature has been spotted, either. Another Reddit user found it being tested out on a different section on the homepage. Instead of appearing above "Trending songs for you", it showed up under the "Mixed for you" section. This could mean that Google and YouTube are gathering information to see where the new feature might have the most visibility for success.
There's also a possibility that new song recommendations may be refreshed either daily or weekly, depending on how users interact with them.

Since this new update is actively being tested, only a select number of users appear to have access. There's also no confirmed date as to when the finalised update will be rolled out to the public.
