Endless scrolling may be on its way out. EE has launched Smart Search — a new tool that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help you quickly locate shows and films across platforms.
With 42% of British viewers claiming that they rely on their phones for content discovery, the feature highlights a fragmented viewing journey across multiple devices. A further 61% of Britons say that they want a unified view of live and on-demand content.
EE TV’s Smart Search is designed to bring everything together, offering a seamless experience on one device across both live and on-demand TV. This means instead of typing in exact titles in the search bar of your telly, you can simply describe what you prefer watching.
Fancy a funny detective show? You can say "detective shows" into your remote and it will pull up suggestions. Can't remember the name of that film, but know it stars the actor from The Inbetweeners? You can simply say or type in the actor's name.
You can even search using a memorable quote from a scene you loved.
Smart Search is able to achieve this by pulling together results from live TV, on-demand libraries, and streaming apps all in one place, so you're not jumping between different services trying to track something down.
And that's not the only clever new feature available.
EE is also bringing you a new tool called Mood Matcher, and it's ideal for those nights when nobody can agree on what to watch.

Mood Matcher essentially matches you up with titles that best match what it thinks you'll enjoy. To help it match you with the best fit, you first need to answer a few quick questions about how you're feeling, what genres you're into, and any themes you prefer.
Mood Matcher then serves up a personalised selection of shows and films based on your answers.
It's especially handy when you've got a group gathered on the sofa, and everyone's got different ideas. Instead of that endless back-and-forth debate about what to put on, the feature cuts through the indecision and gets you watching faster.
Luciano Oliveira, Director of Product, Home & TV at EE, explained: "Choosing what to watch shouldn't be hard, but for millions of households, it genuinely is. We've all lost half an hour to scrolling, or given up and rewatched something familiar just to end the debate. Smart Search and Mood Matcher are our answer to that: describe what you're in the mood for, answer a few quick questions, and EE TV does the rest."
