The new wearable may not release until Christmas 2027

  • Leaked photos appear to show the Oura Ring 5
  • This could be the successor to the current Oura Ring 4
  • New colourways and slimmer design are tipped to be in the works
  • Oura could also add new health-tracking features
  • It may be more expensive than the current models, rumours suggest

The next-generation Oura Ring 5 has surfaced online, revealing its design and new colourways 18 months ahead of schedule. Details of the upcoming smart ring – including a refreshed design and all-new health tracking features — were shared by the team at Android Headlines.

Unlike fitness-focused wearables like Fitbit or Apple Watch, which include a screen, Oura has opted for a design that's almost indistinguishable from a traditional piece of jewellery. But behind-the-scenes, this smart ring is packed with sensors to monitor your health and wellbeing around the clock – just like the Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy, Whoop, and others.

With this new generation, Oura has refreshed the colours available. According to the leaks, Oura is swapping out the Rose Gold shade for something called Deep Rose. From the leaked images, it looks to have a more bronze-rose tone rather than the golden hue you might be used to seeing.

Alongside Deep Rose, the leak suggests a matte black colour (which might be called Stealth), plus silver and gold options. The silver version could also arrive in both glossy and brushed finishes — just like the Oura Ring 4.

The overall design is getting a bit of a makeover, too. You'll notice the outer edge of the ring is more curved compared to the current model. This gives it a look that's closer to a traditional ring you'd wear every day and eliminates some of the bulkiness associated with the current model. These smoother edges should also prevent any scratches when using your phone or tablet while wearing the Oura Ring.

When it comes to keeping your ring powered up, it doesn't seem like you'll need to learn any new tricks. It's been said that Oura is sticking with the same charging setup, so you'll still have the standard dock plus that handy travel case for when you're on the go.

Battery life looks set to stay pretty consistent with the current models, too. The Oura Ring 4 gives you roughly five to eight days between charges. Oura also released a new portable charging case recently, which is designed to boost your battery life from days to weeks.

The biggest upgrades for the new wearable are expected to come from improved sensors and better health tracking capabilities. However, these details have not been released.

Upgrade your fitness tracking with the Oura Ring 4

The Oura Ring 4 blends premium style with advanced health tracking. Its sleek metal finish feels durable and modern, making it easy to wear day and night. It monitors sleep stages, heart rate, activity, and readiness with impressive accuracy, while offering up to a week of battery life. It's an ideal choice if you want detailed insights without the bulky tech on your wrist.

You can select from both the metallic shades and ceramic designs. The metallics start at £349, but could go as high as £499 for colours like gold. It's also available in a wider range of sizes — now extending from size 4 to size 15.

Although if you're hoping to get your hands on the next-generation wearable, you could be waiting a while. Android Headlines has said it's not expected to hit shelves until late 2027. This information appears to align with the company's history of prior releases, as new rings have been announced every three to four years. The Oura Ring 4 made its debut in October 2024, and its predecessor was unveiled back in 2021.

Prices have not been unveiled either. Based on prior releases, though, you may see a rise in costs. The Oura Ring 4 starts from £349, whereas the Oura Ring Gen3 began with prices of £299.

The team at Android Headlines has a strong track record with leaks, whispers, and rumours, but as always, it's worth taking the above with a sizeable pinch of salt. Nothing is official until Oura announces its next-generation fitness-tracking bands. For the foreseeable, Ring 4 remains the top-of-the-line ring from Oura.
