You can make slushies, frozen cocktails, milkshakes, and more just in time for the warmer weather

  • British brand Salter launched a slushie maker for £179.99
  • This is nearly half the price of the Ninja Slushi — £349.99
  • Ninja Slushi sold out when first released in the UK
  • Salter's slushie maker comes with five preset modes — matching Ninja
  • You can have a chilled or frozen drink in as little as 30 minutes

With temperatures starting to rise across the UK, British brand Salter has just launched a new slushie maker — creating tough new competition for US-brand Ninja.

Priced at just £179.99, it's designed to bring cinema-style slushies and bar-quality frozen cocktails straight to your kitchen in as little as 30 minutes. This rivals the best-selling Ninja Slushi, which is nearly costs twice as much when sold at full price (£349.99).

While you can get the Ninja Slushi on sale right now for £299.99 on Ninja's online site, Salter's own version is still much cheaper. Whether you're hosting a summer barbecue or fancy a relaxed night in, you can create an array of frozen drinks with the touch of a button, thanks to the five preset modes.

One of the great things about having a slushie maker at home is that you also have complete control of what goes into every drink. For instance, you can make fresh juices with real fruit and natural sugars, which could be a healthier alternative to shop-bought slushies.

Here's everything you need to know about this new slushie maker, and how it compares to the popular Ninja Slushi.

The Salter Slushie Maker is designed to bring bar-quality frozen drinks to your kitchen with a 2.5L capacity, five presets, and no ice needed. Its built-in cooling system delivers smooth, full-flavour drinks that stay chilled for hours — ideal for summer hosting.

Salter's slushie maker is built with a generous 2.5-litre tank, which means you can whip up enough frozen drinks for the whole family or a group of mates in one go.

Like the Ninja Slushi, the machine comes with five automatic preset programs displayed on a built-in screen, so making slushies, frozen cocktails, frappés, milkshakes, or frozen juices can be achieved with the touch of a button.

You also don't need any ice to make these drinks, just like Ninja's model. The built-in 200W cooling system freezes your liquids directly, to help give you richer flavours and smoother textures without any watering down. Once your drinks are ready, they're meant to stay chilled in the tank for up to 12 hours.

Ninja claims to have WhisperChill Technology keeps things quiet, so you won't disturb anyone with noisy blending or ice crushing during your gathering. We'll need to test one ourselves to see if this truly lives up to expectations. We haven't tested the Salter model either, so we're not sure how noisy it is in comparison.

Salter's machine has a built-in rinse cycle that does the hard work for you, and you can wipe-clean the surfaces.

Both models have detachable parts, like their drip tray and self-serve tap, making pouring mess-free. Some of Ninja's parts are dishwasher safe.

Both versions also come with a recipe booklet, so you can have plenty of inspiration for your next gathering.
