Pixel 10 Pro Fold is a brand-new foldable with bigger screens, a new gearless hinge design, and new AI tricks. It's all housed in what Google is calling its "most durable" design ever.
The next-generation foldable, unveiled in New York City tonight, will compete head-to-head with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which was revealed a few weeks before the Made By Google launch event in the same city. It will supersede the Pixel 9 Pro Fold unwrapped during the same event last summer.
The new model's much-vaunted durability comes from two new elements.
@gbnews Google has unveiled its 10th generation of smartphones under its Pixel brand. Ahead of the launch, GB News' Aaron Brown has got everything you need to know about the Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. #GBNews #UKNews #Google #GooglePixel #Smartphone #Technology
First up, it arrives with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. That means it can withstand immersion in one metre of fresh water for around half an hour, so Pixel 10 Pro Fold can shrug off being caught in a rainstorm or even an accidental dip in the pool.
IP68 is a first for any foldable. Not only that, but it means this foldable Android handset boasts the same level of protection as the other Pixel 10 lineup. This industry-standard rating means you won't need to be any more careful with the foldable screen on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold than the flat Pixel 10.
The second component to that boosted durability comes from a reengineered Super Actua Flex Display. Google says its new OLED screen is built with ultra-thin glass and two layers of anti-impact film for added drop protection.
These upgrades, combined with a new gearless hinge that’s twice as durable as Pixel 9 Pro Fold, ensure that Pixel 10 Pro Fold can handle over 10 years of folding, Google says.
Unfolded, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has an expansive 8-inch screen where you can watch movies, YouTube videos, play games, or run multiple apps side-by-side for maximum productivity

If you've been put off the idea of switching to a foldable phone over concerns about the durability of the design, Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be the answer. Not only is the bendable blower stronger, but it also comes equipped with bigger screens.
Unfurling the Pixel 10 Pro Fold like a paperback novel, you'll find the largest inner display ever found on a Fold model from Google, measuring eight inches. That's the same size as the £1,799 Galaxy Z Fold 7 from Samsung.
That bigger canvas should open-up new ways to multitask. With Split Screen, you can use two apps at once, and now you can adjust the size of each app to your liking. You can also use Drag and Drop to move media and other files across different Android apps on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
Android 16, preinstalled on the all-new Pixel 10 Pro Fold, supports some clever multi-tasking features, including the ability to dynamically resize apps running side-by-side on the handset

In a blog post about its new foldable, Google says: "We’re continuously working with developers across the Android ecosystem to optimize apps on your foldable. With a new game controller functionality on your outer display, you can now enjoy even more immersive gaming in titles like Asphalt Legends and Disney Speedstorm.
"We’ve also optimised streaming on Netflix and Disney+ for immersive streaming on the go."

On the front, Google has fitted a bigger 6.4-inch exterior screen, which lets you quickly reply to text messages, check turn-by-turn directions, access contactless cards and tickets without unfolding the handset. The engineers inside Google achieved this feat by placing the bezels around the display on a strict diet — not increasing the overall footprint.
Both displays boast a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, which should ensure your screen is always easily visible, whether you're indoors or in direct sunlight on a summer's day.
Google has fitted its new Pixel 10 Pro Fold with the biggest battery it's ever used on a foldable. The whopping 5,015mAh lithium-ion cell is capable of powering the new, bigger screens for over 24-hours, Google has claimed. That means you'd be able to pack your new Pixel 10 Pro Fold and binge boxsets on its tablet-like interior screen for the duration of a direct flight to Australia and not need to pack a charger for the long-haul flight.
Even better, Google says its strict Extreme Battery Saver mode can exend that battery life up to 84 hours.

When it's finally time to recharge, Pixel 10 Pro Fold supports fast charging, so you can refill its tank up to 50% in about 30 minutes. The foldable also supports Pixelsnap, a new range of accessories that rely on the Qi2-comaptible wireless charging standard and uses magnets to snap to the back of the handset. Designed by the Pixel team within Google, these are interchangeable with the MagSafe accessories built by Apple for its iPhone models.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold supports the new Pixelsnap Charger with Stand, with strong enough magnets to be able to keep the phone on the stand even when it's unfolded, or prop your phone up with the Pixelsnap Ring Stand for hands-free streaming on a desk or table.
Powering the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the all-new Tensor G5 system-on-a-chip.
Google has branded this new chipset its "most significant upgrade to our chip since Tensor’s debut", which arrived in the Google Pixel 6 smartphone series in 2021. Co-designed with Google DeepMind, the newest Gemin Nano AI model has been squeezed onto Tensor G5 to unlock on-device generative AI experiences.
That means you'll be able to take advantage of many of the latest AI experiences without an internet connection, handing if you're on a flight or abroad and haven't paid for roaming. Outside of the new AI tricks, this supercharged new silicon should deliver snappy performance throguhout the Android 16 experience.
Google previously branded Android 16 as its "biggest updates in years", thanks to its dramatic facelift, notifications that refresh in real-time to make the latest information glanceable, support for hearing aids, and much more.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold arrives with some impressive new cameras too. On the back, you'll find the same triple-camera design as the other models in the Pixel 10 lineup. Google has equipped its durable new foldable with a new 48MP main camera, 10.5MP ultra-wide lens, and 10.8MP telephoto camera to enable 5x lossless zoom. With a helping hand from the on-device AI, photos from the telephoto lens can be boosted up to 20x zoom via Super Res Zoom — making it easier to shoot from a distance.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will start from £1,749. For that, you'll take delivery of this Android 16 handset with 256GB of built-in stoage for your photos, videos, and apps. Google will charge £1,869 for a variant with 512GB, maxing-out at £2,099 for the top-tier 1TB model. All of these are available in either Moonstone or Jade.
