Stream more than 40 television channels at no cost with your new telly

Black Friday is the perfect time to upgrade your telly.

Currys has slashed prices across Freely TVs — and you can upgrade to one of these new Smart TVs for as little as £120. With a Freely-compatible television plugged in, you can stream the most popular channels in the UK, including GB News, and more than 70,000 hours of on-demand content — that's more than you'll find in the Netflix catalogue.

Features that you'd usually associate with Sky TV and other paid-for platforms, like the ability to restart a show that's currently on-air when you tune in halfway through, are available at no cost with Freely TV.

If you want to upgrade your television this Black Friday, you can get a new JVC Smart Ready TV for £119 — was £219, the Hisense A6Q LED 4K HDR Smart TV for £399 — was £599, and the Hisense E7Q PRO QLED 4K HDR Smart TV for £1499— was £2599 via Currys' online store. You can also pick up these same offers in-store.

Save £100 on the JVC Smart HD Ready HDR LED TV from Currys

Get £100 off a brand new telly with Freely installed. You can watch live and on-demand shows over the internet without spending a penny, no aerial needed. It comes with Dolby Atmos to give you immersive sound, a USB port so you can share your holiday snaps, HDR10 for rich colour display, and more.

When you shop from Currys, you can take advantage of Currys FlexPay, which allows you to make low monthly payments of £4.82 for 36 months. You also have the option to pay as little as you like for up to nine months, and then settle the full payment by August 2026 interest-free

For those who don't know, Freely is designed to bring modern streaming capabilities to free-to-air television. It beams content via Wi-Fi connection rather than traditional aerial, which means you can place your flatscreen TV anywhere in the room as long as it has a minimum internet speed of 10Mbps.

For the first time, features that you'd associate with paid-for television services, like Sky Glass Gen 2 or Sky Stream, are baked into free-to-air solutions. You can pause and restart a show once it has already started broadcasting, and following a free software update earlier this summer, you can scroll backwards in time on the TV Guide to access on-demand shows from catch-up services like BBC iPlayer and ITVX.

The service provides more than 40 television channels at no cost, delivered through your internet connection rather than traditional aerial broadcasts. This approach mirrors how Sky Glass and Sky Stream operate, using broadband to deliver programming directly to your screen.

Until the launch of a new Netgem-branded set-top box earlier this month, the only way to bring Freely TV features to your television was to upgrade to a brand-new television. It's not available as a software update to your existing Freeview or Freesat kit.

The most affordable way to start watching via Freely is the JVC Smart HD Ready HDR LED TV (£119) from Currys. Powered by the Titan OS smart platform, this Smart TV isn't just restricted to Freely but also offers access to popular streaming apps such as Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube. For catch-up viewing, you’ll also find BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, Channel 5, and U.

Despite its affordable price tag, this Smart TV still offers access to Dolby Atmos, delivering immersive, cinema-style sound for your favourite movies and shows. There’s even a USB port, allowing you to view holiday photos, play your own videos, or enjoy other media directly from a USB drive.

It supports HDR10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), giving you enhanced contrast, deeper blacks, and richer colours for a more vibrant and lifelike picture.

If you're looking for a few new accessories in addition to a new telly, Currys is also offering 40% off selected accessories when you type in code SAVE40TVACCS at checkout.

  • 4Reality | Channel 67: Sometimes risqué, often funny and always entertaining. 4Reality from Channel 4 – the original home of the best reality TV – brings favourites across real-life drama, sass, romance and rivalry from Married at First Sight, Naked Attraction and First Dates to Made in Chelsea.

  • 4Homes | Channel 68: From massive mansions to amazing spaces, from places in the sun and DIY in chateaus, to homes in the best-of-British locations, 4Homes showcases all places great and small, spanning shows such as Grand Designs, A Place in the Sun and Location, Location, Location.

  • 4Life | Channel 82: Real lives, real people (and real dogs too). And huge helpings of delicious food. Meet people doing amazing things – often in beautiful places. 4Life showcases the great content genres channel 4 viewers love, including travel, food and animals, from The Dog House to Travel Man.

If you're not in the market for a brand new TV, but still want to take advantage of Freely's offerings, the streaming service just released a solution.

This is PLEIO — the first set-top box that brings Freely to any television. Dubbed "the puck" by manufacturer Netgem, it lets you stream free-to-air channels and on-demand boxsets from free-to-air broadcasters over Wi-Fi.

Out of the box, PLEIO lets you stream 250 titles via a dedicated game streaming service. There's an Xbox-like controller in the box that uses Bluetooth to connect to the Freely-powered box | NETGEM PRESS OFFICE

For those who don't know, Freely launched in the first half of last year. Built by the same team as Freeview and Freesat, this new platform is forecast to overtake both of these by the end of the decade.

Add Freely to ANY television by upgrading to the PLEIO box from Amazon

French entertainment brand Netgem is the first brand to launch a plug-and-play box that brings Freely to any television. Connect via HDMI, and you'll be able to stream the most popular free-to-air channels, including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, U, and of course, GB News. Freely arrives packed with several features previously only found on paid-for options like Sky Stream and EE TV

Until now, the only way to experience the Sky Glass-like features included with Freely was to upgrade to one of a slew of new televisions built from the ground up to support the streamer.

But that all changes with the arrival of the plug-and-play PLEIO, which brings Freely-exclusive features to any Smart TV for the first time.

Plug in PLEIO and you'll have access to over 75,000 hours of on-demand content (believe it or not, that's more than Netflix) and 55 live channels, including GB News, ITV, BBC, Channel 4, U, and dozens more.
