The UK's chances of winning this year's Eurovision contest are looking slim

The countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final is officially on, and bookmakers already believe there’s one nation leading the pack by some distance.

According to the latest odds from William Hill, Finland is now the clear favourite to win this year’s competition after a huge surge of support in recent months.

Finnish duo Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen have seen their odds slashed from 5/4 to just 5/6 ahead of Saturday’s Grand Final, making them the standout frontrunners in the betting market.

Meanwhile, hopes of a UK victory appear to be fading rapidly as act Look Mum No Computer has failed to capture British supporters.

The singer, whose real name is Sam Battle, was already considered an outsider at 20/1 when the acts were first announced.

Now his chances have dramatically drifted to 125/1, leaving the United Kingdom down near the bottom of the leaderboard without even performing.

Australia and Isreal are currently Finland’s closest challengers in the market, with the auzzies coming in with odds of 7/2, and Isreal 10/1, while Romania and Denmark are also viewed as outside contenders.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Finland were already strong in the Eurovision outright market after semi-final one, but the reaction to semi-final two has really underlined how far clear they are in the betting, now odds-on at 5/6 from 5/4.

"Australia have moved into second favourite at 7/2 from 13/2 after a strong showing from Delta Goodrem, but they’re still a fair way off Finland in the outright market.

“As for the UK, it’s been another tough week in the betting with Look Mum No Computer now out to 125/1 and very much a massive outsider heading into the final – you could say ‘Look Mum No Chance’.”

While Finland currently dominates the betting market, Eurovision has a long history of late surprises, with rehearsals, staging reveals and live performances often causing dramatic swings in the odds before the final votes are cast.

The BBC’s decision to send experimental Mr Battle to Eurovision 2026 has sparked a wave of divided reactions among fans and viewers across the UK.

The YouTuber and electronic music creator will represent the UK with his unconventional track Eins, Zwei, Drei.

The announcement immediately generated intense debate online, with some Eurovision followers praising the broadcaster for finally taking a creative risk, while others questioned whether the eccentric act could succeed on the international stage.

Some viewers even expressed confusion over the heavy use of German lyrics, while others doubted whether the unusual electronic sound would appeal to mainstream Eurovision voters.

Mr Battle has defended the artistic direction behind the song, explaining that the UK’s recent Eurovision failures showed the need for a different approach.

According to the musician, the team deliberately chose to create something distinctive rather than another “safe” radio-friendly entry that risks being forgotten during the competition.
