EE will supercharge broadband connections to some of the fastest speeds seen in the UK — at no cost.
For a limited time, EE will supercharge download speeds up to 8Gbps. That's 32x faster than the average UK household broadband speed, as measured by Openreach last year.
Whether you're looking to stream the latest Hollywood blockbusters or must-binge boxsets in 4K Ultra HD, play fast-paced video games with people across the globe, download software updates, back-up your photos to the cloud, make FaceTime calls with friends and family, or all of the above... that amount of bandwidth will never struggle.

EE's next-generation 8Gbps connection is designed to support multiple high-demand activities such as 4K and 8K streaming, online gaming, remote working and smart home devices

The free upgrade is part of a nationwide trial, starting this month, to test how its next-generation broadband speeds will perform in real homes. If you're chosen for the boosted broadband, it'll run for a minimum of three months.
EE will send out one of its own Wi-Fi hubs, which were recently refreshed with support for Wi-Fi 7 as standard across its lineup – the first broadband supplier to do so, or a third-party model to connect to either a 2.3Gbps or 8Gbps download service. In exchange for the free upgrade, EE will gather performance insights across different usage needs to help inform its roll-out of these supercharged speeds in future.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
During the three month trial, EE will check-in with participants to manually gather feedback and understand how its ultrafast speeds impact day-to-day life. Consumers who complete the trial will not only receive the service free for a minimum of three months, but they’ll also receive a £100 Amazon.co.uk voucher.
EE will use the new XGSPON network technology to deliver ultra-fast speeds. To minimise impact to existing connectivity, EE says it will – where possible — install a separate line dedicated to the XGSPON service.
This allows customers to test the new technology alongside their current provider without affecting their everyday internet access. At the end of the trial period, the XGSPON service will be removed free of charge, as EE continues to evaluate the technology ahead of a potential wider rollout.
To register interest in the trial, EE customers can CLICK HERE to sign up for the three-month trial.
