Ring has announced a slew of clever new features at the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, designed to make your home much safer. From new AI-powered security alerts that identify potential threats more accurately, to an all-new range of smart sensors you can place throughout your space, these latest innovations offer you greater control, faster awareness, and smarter protection for homes and businesses, the Amazon-owned brand announced.
If you're not familiar with the brand, Ring was originally founded in Santa Monica, California, in 2013 and was later acquired by Amazon in 2018. It's indoor security cameras and other devices are designed to help you secure various areas, whether that be the living room, bedroom, or office.
Here's everything you need to know about what Ring has planned for this year.
Get 50% off the Ring battery-powered video doorbell from Amazon

Easy to install and powered by a built-in battery, the Ring battery-powered doorbell delivers 1440x1440 HD Colour Night Vision and Head-to-Toe View. Enjoy Privacy Zones, Quick Replies, and smart person and package alerts through the Ring app for complete home awareness.
If you want an even bigger discount, you can also pack up your old or broken Ring devices and send them back to your nearest Amazon warehouse to get an extra 20% off the existing sale price
You can get new AI-powered alerts
First, Ring has unveiled AI Unusual Event Alerts. Your Ring camera will gradually learn what's normal for your home by monitoring everyday activities over time. Once it knows your routine, it'll ping you when something out of the ordinary takes place.
This means it'll flag as soon as someone is captured on camera at an unusual time. Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms rely on location data as well as the actions and clothing seen.
The new addition is ideal for anyone who's fed up with false alarms, so now you can choose to only hear about genuinely odd events when Ring detects something that appears outside of your normal routine.
There's also a feature called Active Warnings specifically designed for potential threats to your property. For example, if your camera spots a potential intruder, it'll immediately broadcast a warning through the speaker of your video doorbell.
Meanwhile, a trained security professional will review the footage in real time. They can then decide whether to speak directly to the person or call the police if things look serious. The latter is only available if you subscribe to Ring's Virtual Security Guard service.
The catch? This specific service will only be available in the US for now.

Currently, Ring only offers motion (both indoor and outdoor), contact, and glass-breaking sensors

Ring unmasks new sensors
Ring also showed off a whole new range of security sensors at CES, and they're set to arrive in the UK later this year.
These gadgets will run on Amazon Sidewalk, a low-power network that lets devices communicate even when they're out of range of your Wi-Fi router. Plus, you won't need a separate hub to use them.
The lineup includes updated motion detectors, door and window sensors, and glass break sensors.
The security brand will be introducing smoke and carbon monoxide monitors for the very first time — helping to alert you of any fires or gas leaks.
There will also be new flood and freeze sensors, temperature monitors, and air quality trackers. So if your basement starts flooding or your pipes are about to freeze, you'll know straight away.
Currently, Ring only offers motion (both indoor and outdoor), contact, and glass-breaking sensors.

Finally, Ring has also launched a brand new app store within the Ring app, where you can download several different third-party tools to get more from your devices. For instance, with wildfires becoming more common in drought-hit areas, you'll now see real-time fire alerts and early warnings in the Ring app's Neighbors section.
The new app store is only available in the US for now, but it could potentially land in the UK down the line. You would need a Ring subscription to use these apps, too.
