Amazon has launched its latest Fire TV flatscreens in the UK — four months after it announced the new models at a glitzy event in New York City. The rebooted Fire TV 2-Series, Fire TV 4-Series, and Fire TV Omni QLED arrive with sleek designs, faster performance, and the latest version of the FireOS software.
The Fire TV 2-Series is the most affordable model in the lineup. It starts from £149.99 for the smallest 32-inch screen size, although it's worth noting this telly tops out at 720p HD. That's not Full HD, which refers to panels with a resolution of 1080p. If you watch live broadcasts or on-demand boxsets in HD, or want to treat yourself to a bigger screen size, then it's worth paying for those additional pixels. But it does support HDR for vibrant colours.

Despite its low price tag, Fire TV 2-Series is still equipped with Wi-Fi 6 for speedy and more reliable streaming of your favourite shows, films, or sports fixtures. There's also a quad-core processor designed by Amazon that should ensure apps launch fast and the picture quality stays smooth.
For the first time, the most affordable Fire TV 2-Series benefits from Amazon's clever Omnisense technology. Using sensors built into the frame, the screen will automatically wake when you enter to show your favourite artwork or let you start watching in seconds. Dialogue Boost feature lets you turn up character voices without cranking up background noise, perfect for late-night viewing.
There are only 2x HDMI inputs on the back of the flatscreen, so those with multiple consoles might want to look elsewhere. Amazon supports AirPlay to wirelessly beam content from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the big screen.
While the 32-inch model of the Fire TV 2-Series costs £149.99, you won't need to pay much more to expand that screen size. It costs just £189.99 for a 40-inch version of the newest-generation 2-Series TV.

If you want an improved viewing experience, Amazon's new Fire TV 4-Series starts from £259.99 for the 43-inch model. The Seattle-based retailer uses a 4K Ultra HD panel for the 4-Series lineup, which offers 4x as many pixels as Full HD 1080p. Amazon says this screen should also offer enhanced brightness support for HDR10+, offering better contrast, so details aren't lost in the gloom during darker scenes.
Amazon also provides 4x HDMI inputs, twice as many as its most affordable model. If you want to connect Blu-ray players, games consoles, and soundbars that work via HDMI Arc, then this is likely the minimum.
Elsewhere, the specs are pretty indistinguishable from the 2-Series: Everything is powered by the same quad-core processor; there's Wi-Fi 6 support for speedier streaming in busy households; Amazon includes a Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote in the box so you can use voice commands to control everything on-screen; AirPlay is baked-in for wireless streaming from your iPhone and iPad.
Prices start from £259.99 for the 43-inch 4-Series TV, rising to £299.99 for a 50-inch panel on the same model, and topping out at £359.99 for the 55-inch 4-Series TV. Both 2-Series and 4-Series televisions now support Alexa+ for voice control and smart home integration, bringing premium features to everyday prices.

With the launch of the top-of-the-line Omni Mini-LED Smart TVs, we'd assumed the older, Omni QLED lineup would eventually be discontinued. Not so, as Amazon has just overhauled the lineup with a new panel that's 60% brighter than its predecessor.
Rounding out the refreshed lineup, Fire TV Omni QLED Series keeps the same 4K Ultra HD resolution as the 4-Series, but steps up to a QLED panel instead. Combined with full-array local dimming, this system should offer deeper blacks and brighter whites for a more vibrant image on-screen. The boosted display set-up on the Omni QLED Series allows Amazon to certify this screen for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ Adaptive.
Like the rest of the new lineup, the Fire TV Omni QLED Series is designed to take advantage of the new AI capabilities built into Alexa+, which launched in the USA earlier this year, but isn't yet available to UK audiences
