Carlos Alcaraz could pocket a record-breaking £3million if he secures his third successive Wimbledon championship when the tournament begins next month.

The potential windfall represents a £300,000 increase from the £2.7 million he collected for his victory at SW19 last year.

The All England Club has announced a total prize fund of £53.5 million for this year's Championships, marking a 7 per cent rise from the previous £50 million pot.

Both men's and women's singles champions will receive equal prize money, maintaining Wimbledon's commitment to pay parity across the tournament, with Barbora Krejcikova winning the women's singles last year.

Alcaraz is currently taking a break in Ibiza following his gruelling French Open triumph, where he overcame Jannik Sinner in an epic five-set encounter lasting five and a half hours on Sunday.

The Spaniard mounted a remarkable comeback from two sets down to claim victory at Roland Garros.

Bookmakers have installed the defending champion as joint favourite alongside world No 1 Sinner for the Wimbledon crown.

Should Alcaraz complete a hat-trick of titles, his £3m prize would represent a substantial increase from his 2024 earnings.

Even first-round losers will benefit from the increased prize fund, earning £66,000 - a £6,000 rise from last year's Championships.

The substantial growth in prize money becomes evident when compared to a decade ago.

In 2015, when Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams claimed the singles titles, each champion received £1.88m - more than £1m less than this year's potential winners' cheques.

Alongside the prize money increases, ticket prices for the finals have reached unprecedented levels.

The All England Club has introduced a three-tier pricing structure, with the most expensive seats costing £315 for premium positions, whilst the six rows behind are priced at £295.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

The cheapest finals tickets, located in the back six rows, will cost £240.

A Wimbledon spokesperson explained: "Very careful consideration is given when setting ticket prices for the Championships, with the greatest price increase applied to premium seats on Centre Court and No 1 Court."

The ballot attracted record applications, with particularly strong interest from fans in the United States, Italy, Ireland and Germany.
