Donald Trump will be attending the US Open final for the first time since 2015

Television networks covering today's US Open men's final have received directives to avoid broadcasting any hostile responses from spectators during President Donald Trump's appearance at the match.

The United States Tennis Association has instructed broadcasters to "refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President's attendance in any capacity, including ENG coverage."

This marks Trump's return to Flushing Meadows for the first time in a decade.

His previous appearance at the tournament in 2015, before his initial presidential campaign, saw him greeted with audible disapproval from the crowd whilst accompanied by his wife Melania.

Heightened security protocols will be implemented throughout the venue for the presidential visit, with tournament officials alerting media personnel about the additional measures.

Sky Sports and ESPN are amongst the broadcasters who have been specifically notified about the coverage limitations.

The restrictions extend beyond traditional television broadcasts to encompass electronic news gathering operations.

Written media outlets have not received similar instructions regarding their coverage of potential crowd responses.

Spectators planning to watch the championship match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner should anticipate substantially increased security procedures compared to earlier tournament days.

The 79-year-old president will occupy the Rolex Suite as a guest of tournament sponsors.

Organisers anticipate displaying him on stadium screens during the pre-match national anthem ceremony.

Carlos Alcaraz, competing for the title against Italy's Jannik Sinner, welcomed the presidential presence.

"It is a privilege for the tournaments having the president from every country just to support the tournament, to support tennis, and to support the match," the Spanish player stated following his semi-final victory over Novak Djokovic.

The young champion acknowledged potential nerves but emphasised his determination to maintain focus.

"I will try not to think about it. I don't want myself to be nervous because of it," Alcaraz added.

Trump's attendance continues his pattern of appearing at prominent American sporting occasions since beginning his second presidential term.

The commander-in-chief has been visible at the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500 and the FIFA Club World Cup Final in recent months.

His decade-long absence from the US Open represents a notable gap in his sporting event appearances.

The tournament visit coincides with the third consecutive grand slam final featuring Alcaraz and Sinner, though the presidential presence threatens to divert attention from the tennis rivalry.
